Potential Unrestricted Free Agents for 2006-07

There has been many people wondering what the class of 2006-07 unrestricted free agents will look like. I will attempt to put together a list of such free agents. From the rules as stated on the NHL.com website a player will be unrestricted in 2006 if he is 29 years old with 4 years experience or has 8 seasons in the NHL.

According to Spotsnet.ca, Pavel Datsyuk and his agent has set a deadline for Ken Holland and the Detroit Red Wings.

Hockey team gets involved.

The Dallas Stars have made a donation of $10,000 through their Stars Foundation to aid hurricane Katrina victims. The organization is also encoraging its fans to contribute to this effort by making donations.

According to http://leafscooper.tripod.com/columnists/ , it claims that a Polish NHL News source (http://www.nhl.com.pl/plotki.php?pid=770), is reporting that the Toronto Maple Leafs are apparantly close to a contract agreement with former New York Islander, free agent forward Mariusz Czerkawski.

Malone Re-Signs.

TSN.ca is reporting that 25 year old, 6’4″, 216 lbs., sophomore forward Ryan Malone has re-signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Malone lead the Pens in scoring in 03-04 with 43 points in 81 games, notching 22 goals and 21 assists.
