Panthers News and Trade Updates

The Palm Beach Post reports that the Panthers are considering many different options prior to the trade deadline. It is speculated that the Panthers will hold on to Big Bad Bertuzzi so that they can hang on to the right to negotiate with him until July the 1st.

Now that Bar is set would you trade Sundin?

Now that Forsberg has gone at a pretty high price and teams like San Jose and The Ducks will be wanting to add more than ever to keep the pace with Nashville, Do you think the leafs should maybe shop Sundin around?

On Fighting in Hockey

This is my first article and before I talk about actual hockey with you guys after this article, I have to get something off my chest that really gets me worked up, which was triggered by the Kris Newbury incident ….

This article is quite long….just to let you know. I got writing and just couldn’t stop.

SIDE NOTE: Just saw Forsberg got traded to the Preds. That instantly makes them contenders for the Cup.

Mike Cammalleri a Possibility?

Forget it. Mike Cammalleri coming to Montreal could make sense. Let me tell you why it doesn’t.

A Closer Look At The Forsberg Trade

Well for Philadelphia this was an awesome trade. Forsberg wasn’t going to help the team at all for the remainder of the season so why not acquire a top pairing defenseman prospect in Ryan Parent, a top six winger in Scottie Upshall, and a 1st and 3rd rdp in a deep draft. This was a great job done by the Flyers for pulling this off. It’s doubtful that they could have acquired more.

Forsberg to Nashville!!!

Sources tell TSN the Nashville Predators have agreed to trade Scottie Upshall, Ryan Parent, a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick to the Philadelphia Flyers for Peter Forsberg. The deal will not be official until the completion of a trade call with the NHL. Forsberg was on the ice for warm-up for Thursday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but he was scratched from the lineup.

Edit: According to Sportsnet, the 3rd Rounder would be conditional to Forsberg re-signing with Nashville. If not, it would become a 6th rounder. Thanks to Kamullia for pointing that out.

Gerber on the way out?!

With the suspension of Ray Emery, Martin Gerber has been givern a second chance with Ottawa. His performance has substantially improved since November, winning six of the last seven starts and getting an impressive 29 save shutout against the Panthers last night. It’s no secret Muckler has been looking to offload his salary for awhile now, and by the end of this three game stint there is the potential that Gerber could become a valuable commodity at the deadline. If the next two games are wins for Ottawa (good chance they will be too- Atlanta and Edmonton have both been slumping lately), Gerber’s stock will only rise. So what will Ottawa do?

Big chance for the youngsters, or more meaningless shuffling?

The Canadiens are without Kovalev due to an elbow injury he has been feeling since Christmas, according to In addition Huet may be out with a pulled hammy, he will find out this afternoon.

Sundin vs Koivu….

Ok, anybody who’s ever read my posts knows that I’m not your typical Leaf fan that thinks Forsberg is coming to Toronto along with Roberts and Bertuzzi. I don’t think everyone in hockey wants to play in Toronto and I think it’s ridiculously ignorant to think otherwise.

Kovalev Out for 3 weeks

TSN ( is reporting that Kovalev will be out for the next 3 weeks. This is actually the best thing that could happen at this point, hopefully someone like Gabrovski gets called up and is given a chance to prove himself.

Billy Guerin to TO??

The reports:

The Globe and Mail reported yesterday that John Ferguson contacted his old boss, Blues GM Larry Pleau, about acquiring Guerin.

Somethings Gotta Give My Habs Rant

First off I am a huge Montreal fan and I will stick with my team through the good and the bad.  But something has to be done, take last nights game for instance Koivu(or captain hook) has been taking far too many penalties lately, not blaming everything on him the team took 9 penalties to New Jersey’s 3.  It’s nice to see them playing hard but they have to use their heads and avoid the pointless penalties.

Club Denying the need of change!

Fan of the Montreal Canadiens are probably starting to panic and they have good reason to be! From resent interviews from the press….many of the canadiens players are stating as well as coaches that the team does not need any change and they have a crew fit for a come back…
