The TorontoSun.com is reporting a bunch of speculation regarding coaching rumors and possible player transactions.

Bergeron Update

GM Peter Chiarelli provided an update on Patrice Bergeron, who suffered a Grade 3 concussion six days ago when Philadelphia defenseman Randy Jones belted him into the TD Banknorth Garden boards.

“He could be out a month. He could be out two months. He could be out a year,” Chiarelli said.

Sourced Trade Rumours 3

Well, here’s my 3rd installment of trade rumours. Hopefully you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Spezza signs a 7-year extension!

sources are reporting that Jason Spezza has signed a 7yr $49mil extension with a provisional no trade clause.

Spezza will be paid 8M$ for the first 5 season and then 5M$ and 4M$ for the last two.

He will have a 7M$ cap hit on the Sens cap.

Problems plaguing the Canucks.

It goes to show that there has been a lot of hype about the Canucks defense and its prospects of at least reaching the playoffs after managing to sign Sami Salo, Kevin Bieksa, and Lucas Kraijeck to extensions as well as signing Aarron Miller to a one year deal. This would leave the Canucks with a solid top 6 of Mitchell, Ohlund, Salo, Bieksa, Krajicek and Miller. A great defensive core, for any team, add to the fact that Luongo is manning the pipes in the rear, most people would think that the Canucks would be a very hard team to score against. However, the Canucks are off to a slow start (5-8-0)(1-6-0 at home “worst in the NHL”) after finishing the season with the best record after Christmas (32-8-6), as well as the best PK in the league. Things aren’t looking to great for the Canucks.

Halak demands trade?

Yvon Pedneault confirmed before the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Philadelphia Flyers that Jaroslav Halak asked to be traded. He also mentioned that if Halak is not trade he might go to the Russian Super League and earn approximatively 1 millions to end the year in Russia.

Ozolinsh Expected To Be Signed Today

The San Jose Sharks are expected to announce the signing of defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh today.

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun is reporting that the Atlanta Thrashers could possibly deal Marian Hossa if he does not resign in the very near future.

It appears in Todays NHL one mans luxury overpowers another’s need.

The tunnel has been a long and dark road. 7 years of the murky underground tunnel that the Panthers have created. Year after year we catch glimpses of light then it fades away.

Sabres sign Pratt

The Buffalo Sabres have come to terms with unrestricted free agent Nolan Pratt. The 32 year old defenseman came off a good season with the Lightning last year collecting 8 points in 81 games. He is a very solid defenseman, but has very few offensive characteristics. He will suit the Sabres penalty kill.
