Jeff Carter available?

I heard on french TV show 110%(which hasn’t much credibility, but what the heck…),last night, that Flyers’ center Jeff Carter is available and Flyers are shopping him around. If someone hears anything about that rumor, please let me know.Personally,if Carter is available indeed,I hope Bob Gainey will do whatever it takes to acquire him.

Now Canucks have too many defenseman

Its been reported from the Sportsnet crew The Hockey Central panel mostly by Jim Kelly and Pierre Lebrun that the Canucks don’t need 8 quality Dman.So when Salo and Bieska get back one of them will be packing there bags looking for a new home. The teams most interested in the two are the Leafs,Thrashers,Lightning, and the Caps.Players been mentioned in the deals are Jason Blake or Darcey Tucker,Marrian Hossa,Brad Richards,Aleander Semin.

Who's Next?

The Larry Robinson jersey retirement night has come and gone and as Bob Gainey’s approaches in February, one must wonder who’s the next former Montreal Canadien to get their jersey number retired and hang the Bell Center rafters.

Caps Fire Coach Hanlon

Tsn.ca is reporting that the Washington Capitals have fired head coach Glen Hanlon. Taking over the team on an interim basis is Bruce Boudreau.

Tradeable Buds

I have always said that even if the leafs were losing or being their regular inconsisent selves, i always could look forward to watching some of their young players play and, over the past 2.25 seasons, i have:

Wellwood, Steen, Poni and Antropov, White, Coliacovo, Stralman, Stajan, Tlusty.
One day we’ll be able to add Pogge, Kulemin and maybe Earl and Williams to that list.

Gainey You Need To Start Negotiating Now

First of all, I have been saying all along that now is not the time for major changes in Montreal, it is time for some minor tweaks though. The maojor changes I would make now is to sign some key players before the July 1st deadline in 08, and start working on some UFA’s for 09.

Sourced Trade Rumours 9

Well, here is Version #9 of Trade Rumours.

The Mats Effect

Mats Sundin has been one of the best players in the NHL this season. He’s 5th in points, 12th in goals, and 18th in plus minus.

Its clear that this is a guy giving 110% every night…probably because he want to win the cup.

Problem is, he plays on a team satisfied with 50%

Most Under-Rated NHL Defencemen Today

Ok, with all the lists hitting HTR lately, I decided to join the fun with a different type of list. This is a list dedicated to the under-rated defencemen who do all the little things that lead a team to victory. Without the contribution of these players, their respective teams would not be as good as they are.

Tuukka Rask making NHL debut vs Leafs

Boston radio station WEEI is reproting that the bruins have announced that rookie goalie Tuukka Rask is making his NHL debut against the team that drafted him the Toronto maple Leafs.

I want to be in Toronto for the reaction if he has a great game vs the leafs

Getzlaf Signed through 2012-2013 season

The Anaheim Mighty Ducks have signed Ryan Getzlaf to a US$26.625 million, five-year contract extension. This all but squashes those insane rumors regarding Brian Burke wanting to trade him due to contract issues. Good job by Burke locking Getzlaf up.

Your team of the 90's

Just want to get opinions on who some of your favourite players were from the 90’s. Doesn’t have to be the best but simply guys you liked watching (make a team of them). In order for a player to be eligible he must have played at least 4 seasons in the 90’s.

I just read on NHL.com that Brian Burke traded Anaheim’s second round pick in 2009 for the Capitals Brian Sutherby. It makes the Bryzgalov move make sense. Sutherby only makes Anaheim a bigger team. Maybe Bertuzzi is going to be out a lot longer than expected. Too bad Bert!
