Speculation from the New York Post

Larry Brooks of the New York Post is reporting that the Rangers have the assets to make a big move if desired.

Impact Player Needed

This is a follow-up on Habs_pm‘s ”Gainey To Make Decision”

He talked about leaders and impact players. The Habs have both, Koivu and Kovalev. Koivu fits in well, but does Alexei Kovalev fit in as well? His hot play so far could easily put the 3 letter word ”yes” in your mind, but Kovalev tends to become inconsistent. That inconsistency could end up hurting the Habs.

Gainey To Make Decision

Habs got off to a good start but lets face it, at best they will make the playoffs and not go further than that with there current roster. This team is mediocor at best and they are starting to show their true colours with they’re recent skid.

Koivu & Kovalev’s contract both end next summer of 09.

Is that coinsidence?

Cue the Vinny rumors!

With Jay Feaster(Tampa GM) saying he may have to shake things up and saying that maybe not even the big 4(I include Boyle) are safe, you can officially begin the hopeful, and at times desperate and ridiculous, Vinny Lecavalier to Montreal trade rumors. It’s every Habs fans dream to see this guy play for the Habs, and believe me I’d love to have it happen sooner rather then later, but I don’t see it happening till the summer of ’09 when he becomes a UFA and might want to leave TBay with that organization currently going through ownership problems and with no top prospects to speak of(especially in net where they really suck). Then the Habs will have a shot. Until then, a trade for Vinny would mean Price and Higgins guaranteed going the other way and there is no way Price will ever get traded, not even for Vinny.

World Juniors a Month Away

The World Junior Championship in Leksand Sweden is about a month away so i believe its time to start looking at what Canada’s roster will look like
