Monthly Archives: July 2008

With most of the big name free agents gone, except for Sundin, and barring him signing with Montreal, I think that Bob Gainey is probably done his signings. So here a look at the Habs lineup changes for this year.

Morrison, Jagr probably not on Leafs radar

Derek Harmsworth of The Bleacher Report says the Maple Leafs have apparently agreed to terms with Swedish defenseman Jonas Frogren.

Additionally Frogren’s Swedish team Farjestad BK have posted an article on their website saying that Frogren has signed with the Leafs, and is following in the footsteps of Hall of Famer Borje Salming.

The Vancouver Canucks have reported that they have aquired Steve Bernier from the Buffalo Sabres for a second round Draft pick in 2010 and third round pick (Los Angeles’ selection) in 2009.

This article is a recap of all Glen Sather has done in these past 4 days, my analysis of all of these moves, future targets including Mats Sundin, and what to expect.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY AMERICA!

According to the CKNW radio station the Canucks have given an offer sheet to Filppulla. Awaiting more info on this rumor.

According to reports coming out of NY, Paul Mara has re-signed with the Rangers for $1.95M, one year.

Russian reports have it that Jaromir Jagr has signed with Omsk.

Contrary to recent reports stating that Boyle was close to becoming an Ottawa Senator, TSN.ca confirms that Tampa Bay defenseman Dan Boyle, and Brad Lukowich, have been traded to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a 1st round, 4th round picks, a prospect TBA, and Matt Carle.

Boyle makes $6.6M a season and was asked to waive his no-trade clause.

I’m writing this article because I want everybody’s opinion on what they think about the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fans.
In this article I will also talk about their current acquisitions and my thoughts on Toronto Maple Leaf fans and hockey fans in general.

Trade Rumors front: Dan Boyle asked to waive NTC. Hawks may be shopping Marty Havlat as GM Dave Tallon said no to giving up Khabibulin.

JAGR ERA AS A New York Ranger is OVER: press conference stated that Markus Naslund signed to a two-year deal worth $8M, and Dmitri Kalinin has signed one-year deal.

Sundin considering retirement

Was Cherry right after all?

The National Post is reporting Thursday that Mats Sundin is considering retirement.

If true, this would suggest that Don Cherry was right all along.

NHL AND JAGR WAITING FOR SUNDIN

DON’T BE IN SHOCK… but you will hear it here first. The Rangers who have just traded Fedor Tyutin and Christian Backman to Columbus in exchange for Nikolai Zherdev and Dan Fritsche

Could very well likely:
SIGN SUNDIN AND JAGR for 7.5 a piece.

Tyutin and Backmon alone cost 6.5 Million. The Rangers who where said to have had 10 Million remaining after signing Redden and Rozival have now freed up enough money to sign both Jarg and Sundin.

Don’t be surprised if Sundin and Jagr are line mates in 2008-2009

I’m hearing opinions that the Marian Hossa deadline deal in retrospect was a bad move and that the Penguins are going to struggle to make the playoffs now that Malone and Hossa, and others are elsewhere. This so called ‘ripple affect’ from losing Hossa is nonsense and let me tell you why…

Tsn.ca is reporting that the Blue Jackets have send Zherdev and Dan Fritchie to the Rangers in exchange for Fedor Tyutin and and Christian Backman.
