Flyers and Atlanta talking??

Rumor has it that the Flyers and Atlanta Thrashers are discussing options. Apparently, there is talks of Van Riemsdyk for Kari Lehtonen!?! This could not be a bigger mistake for the Flyers! Why in the world would they trade their top prospect who has yet to emerge, for an overrated goaltender no more of an upgrade from their current duo of Nitty/Biron?? Not to mention, with the goaltending talent out there that is pending to be UFA’s such as Backstrom (my first choice) Fernandez, and Khababulin, why would the Flyers choose Lehtonen at the cost of their future? The Flyers could trade for a UFA at the deadline for a much smaller price and resign in the offseason…Both Biron and Nitty are UFA’s and only one will return next season.

Where did all the sellers go?

16 teams make the playoffs. 14 teams do not. Ideally then, there would be 16 buyers and 14 sellers. This is rarely the case, as sub playoff teams look for a boost, while some 7th or 8th place teams wonder if its worth while to buy a player.

This season seems to be more of the prior. Sellers are falling off the board left right and center, meaning this Deadline could very well be slim pickings.
