The Edmonton Journal is reporting that Grebeshkov and the Oilers are talking about the possibility of a new deal. “ His agent, Todd Diamond, said on Monday that they engaged in exploratory contract talks with the Oilers prior to the trade deadline. The longer the term, the better added Grebeshkov. Two or three years would be ideal.”

Why Can Montreal Goalies Never Realize Their Potential?

Since Patrick Roy was traded from the Montreal Canadiens to the Colorado Avalanche during the 1995-96 season, there have been a parade of highly touted youngsters tending goal for Les Habitants. The problem is that few have them have ever been able to turn their potential into consistently good results for an extended period of time. Why is this?

With the playoffs around the corner, lets say the teams that are in Playoff positions keep it. in the east, we’d have:

Could Tavares Hold Out?

The similarities between John Tavares and another former Oshawa General, Eric Lindros, may not end with them playing on the same junior team and being highly touted phenoms in their draft year.

Something to ponder is whether Tavares will mirror Lindros and perhaps decide to not play for the NY Islanders (or another failing franchise), should the Isles win the draft lottery.

He is the consensus number 1 pick but he may never suit up for the team that chooses him first overall.

Cap Casualties

First the Washington Times reported on it, and now TSN is covering it as well. Many NHL teams will be facing a cap crisis either this summer, or the next. The past few seasons have demonstrated the financial woes teams suffer after achieving some degree of success, and most predict this off-season will be no different.

Islanders to me moved?
