2011 NHL Trade Rumors – Cory Schneider to Coyotes?
The NHL season is already headed into its second week of play and its clear this is going to be a terrific season of hockey. There are a few teams that have started the season slow and the Vancouver Canucks are one of those teams.
Vancouver entered this season with two outstanding goalies and the rumors in the off-season was the team was looking to deal one for a physical defensemen. The latest from Bleacher Report has the team dealing Cory Schneider to the Phoenix Coyotes in a deal that could help the team add some toughness and breakout of the early season slump the team is having.
Schneider was 16-4-2 in the 2010-11 season and is considered a prime player to become a star in the league, but the Canucks need help now and they have a very capable starter in Roberto Luongo. Phoenix has a huge need for a starter between the pipes and might be willing to part with a little more in talent to acquire the youngster.
Though it is still early in the NHL season, teams will be looking to address needs they couldn’t fix in the off-season and that could create a flurry of deals before the trade deadline. Watch for teams in the playoff hunt to become more aggressive as the window for winning the Stanley Cup is very short for most teams and the pressure is to win now.
