34 year old G Rich Parent wants to get back in the NHL!

Ever heard of the book ”The Secret”? Chances are, you did.

Ever heard of 34 year old goaltender Rich Parent? Chances are you did not (I do know him but I am old and a hockey freak so that doesen’t count!)

Anyways, Rich Parent certainly did heard of the book ”The Secret”

Check this out…
First, for those who doesen’t know Parent, he HAS played in the NHL before. In fact, he played a grand total of 32 games in his NHL career (11 in St. Louis, 14 in Tampa Bay and 7 in Pittsburgh) and the last time he played an NHL game was in the season 2000-01 with the Pens.

Since then, he’s been playing in Europe.

Now, this is where it becomes weird…

Parent, now 34 year old, wants to do something virtually impossible and get back in the NHL even though he’s never been a regular #1 (or even a #2) in his ”better days”. When you think about this, established guys like Curtis Joseph, Ed Belfour or Robert Esche are struggling to sign a contract or even get an invite to a camp, how the hell will 34 year-old Rich Parent will?

Here’s the plan: He wants to do this using the book ”The Secret” and asked for the help of motivator Pierre Morency to help him out reaching his goal. Morency is known for a book he wrote called ”Demandez et vous recevrez” (which could be translated to ”Ask and you’ll receive”) and because he did pretty much the same thing with then french-lawyer Isabelle Mercier who quit his job and 2 years later (with the help of Morency) became a world’s top-5 professional poker player.

Anyways, Parent has been attending well-known goalie coach Francois Allaire’s goalie scrimmage this summer with the likes of Roberto Luongo, Manny Fernandez, Mathieu Garon and Jean-Sebastien Giguere. Parent and Morency were interviewed on TV and are saying he’s going to reach his goal somewhere between now and the start of the 2008-09 season.

He even know for which team he wants to play!
