Alexei Yashin has gone home reports…

Alexei Yashin has gone home. The Russian centre agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Locomotiv (Yaroslavl) of the Russian League on Friday, bolting the NHL after 12 seasons. Russian teams do not disclose financial terms but The Canadian Press can confirm the deal does not include an out clause to return to the NHL next season.

I’d like to thank the New York Islanders for not letting this happen sooner.

    Good riddance!

This was starting to become more of a forgone conclusion, the longer he was going without signing with an NHL club.  Yashin will always go where the money is.  It would not shock me a bit, if he returned to the NHL at some point in the future.  But it also wouldn't shock me if he retired from professional hockey after this coming season.

Yashin is a joke, he plays only for the money

Maybe we'll stop hearing about how the leafs need to sign him. Unfortunately, we'll probably hear more about how they missed the boat!

hahaha definitely funnier and better idea than his suggestions

to throw in a corny joke, at his salary demand that boat is more like a yacht. On a more serious note, in a league with a salary cap, and an already crowded young roster, that's one boat that's good to miss.

yashin is old news, who cares

Man.  Sure Yashin isn't worth the 7-8 million he was signed for.  But honestly, I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him for 2 million.  He had 50 pts in like 50-something games.  Thats not bad for 2 million.  His agent said he wouldnt sign for anything less than 2 million. I wish Nonis would have taken a chance on him.  God knows we need the scoring help.
