Alfredsson nearing return?
Surely, Wednesday was circled on somebody’s calendar, with the New York Rangers coming to town.
And maybe there was a bit of payback on the minds of a couple of Senators.
The object of the payback: Public Enemy No. 1 Wojtek Wolski— the Ranger whose hit knocked Daniel Alfredsson silly and right out of the Senators lineup.
But Wolski, in the meantime, suffered an injury of his own. Sports hernia surgery will sideline him for a month. At least, he’ll save himself a punch in the chops.
And while Wolski spends time nursing his own wounds, the return of Alfredsson could be near. The Senators captain skated for a second straight day Tuesday and had testing to see where he’ stands in his recovery from post-concussion syndrome.
While he won’t play Wednesday at Scotiabank Place, don’t rule out the possibility of the 38-year-old Alfredsson joining the team on its five-game road trip that starts Friday against the Sabres.
