Why not call it All Around the East Comments? I can only assume a pt. 2 is on the way.

Even still, not sure why you picked the inferior league to do this one on, and in addition you spent the most time talking about two crappy teams - NYR and TO.

Alright, you gotta explain something to me here...

Why is that, when Brière tested the UFA market this summer, it was okay to assume that Philly would probably get a shot at him considering his long-time friendship with Marty Biron and Denis Gauthier, but not okay to suggest that Ovechkin could be interested to play in Montreal, a city he loves, with his buddy Markov ? I'm not sayin' it was the case, just trying to see what's the difference ?

I know fans in Montreal are easily getting excited about rumors, and that in general, we tend to talk about them too much...but chances are you would hear the same comin' from other team's fans if there were as many browsing this site.

Now, let's move on to Koivu. What truely amazes me is that, up until last year, we had fans comin' from the 29 other teams telling us how Koivu is not a legitimate number one center, how overrated and overpaid he was, and now, just because "some" fans (again, Montreal still loves Koivu as a player AND a human being) are questioning whether or not he's the leader our team needs to make a deep playoffs run, we are nothing but a bunch of ungrateful fans ?

Most of us would love for Koivu to end his career in Montreal...but perhaps not as our offensive leader. He's still a great captain, that's not to debate. But he's not the one we can rely on to generate the offense anymore.

Which leaves us (and him) with two options; either we sign him for a decent amount (I'm not sayin' cheap, but decent) and keep him as our captain until he retires, or we give him a chance to win a Stanley Cup elsewhere. He's not getting booed out of town, and it has nothing to do with the fans not "wanting him"...Koivu always been a gentleman, and one of the most beloved figures in Montreal. Just like Sundin in Toronto, or (in a very different situation) Bourque in Boston. Now would you say the fans in Boston were ungrateful because, at one point, they were open to the idea of trading him ?
Oh! In that case, yeah they should shop him, if they can get a good young player and a pick back I think they should do it. Besides Lunqvist is expected to get close to $8 million next year so they might as well move him rather then lose him for nothing, cuz I doubt they'll re-sign him.

I've been saying the same thing about McPhee for years. It would seem like he's made a lot of good moves, and yet, the team has continued to struggle. This team has surely underachieved enough by now that things should be starting to come together.

But, low-and-behold, all of a sudden, now it doesn't seem like McPhee was the problem at all. Out goes Hanlon, in comes Bodreau, and the team is starting to come alive.

I still think that after all this time, the team should be doing better. But perhaps it's fair to give McPhee another season, a full season, with Bodreau at the helm, and save my judgement for then.
