Good for Amonte! This was a classy move. His signing with the Coyotes is a real coup for Gretzky and Co. Amonte, like C. Lemieux, adds a valuable veteran element to the team. The Coyotes did well last year as a young team on the way up, and this should work out great for them. Hopefully Amonte's scoring will replace the scoring lost when Handzus was traded.

The Yotes are looking pretty threatening for next year. Would anybody care to revise their predictions for the west? Like, say, Nashville? The contenders in the west are sick: Wings, Avs, Sharks, Kings, Blues, Oils, Nucks, Yotes, Stars, Hawks... Three of the above teams would have to underachieve for Nashville to make good on its promise. That's pretty dismal...

god damn rangers blow it again….amonte was right there for the taking….yeah its nice that they signed Holik and Kasparaitis….but the team still sucks….Amonte would have been a GREAT addition….a line of Amonte-Lindros-Bure could have possibly been one of the best in the league….it would have instantly made the Rangers one of the best teams in the East….instead they still will miss the playoffs again….who’s gonna play on the 1st line with Lindros and Bure?? who will play with Holik on the 2nd line?? its nice to be strong down the middle….but this team has NO GOOD WINGERS outside of Bure (Dvorak sucks too)….as annoying as Fleury was last season…..he did score 25 goals and 40 assists….the Rangers have still yet to replace that…..looks like it will be Year #6 without the playoffs……Holik is gonna be wishing he stayed in NJ….where they have a real team…..

I think he signed with Phoenix because that is where he wants to play. He turned down bigger money elsewhere. Phoenix is building a team and will be a complete team in years to come. With the great one at the helm don’t be surprised more players dont want to play for the Coyotes. Plus the golf is great all year round

Guess he screwed around too much and turned all the good teams off of him. He had the Rangers,Islanders,Stars,Leafs,Sharks and Bruins after him,and he ends up with the Coyotes? He had the chance to sign with all those teams for more than 6 mil a year weeks ago,i say he ended up with Phoenix because no one else was interested anymore.

Turned out that the Coyotes were the other team to offer. Good job by the Yotes. They have a strong right wing team now with Amonte, Doan, C. Lemieux, and Buchburger.

Finally this puts an end on Amonte and now everyone will concentrate on trade rumors. Although Cassells is left, i say he could go to either LA or Toronto. Dafoe will not go anywhere until maybe September.

Amonte will bring more leadership and scoring for the Coyotes.

However, this means Fleury will go.......

thought he would sing with a contender like the Rangers, though i suppose you have to have a team that makes the playoffs, goes far, maybe wins the division title, to be called a contender. Oh not the Rangers.
