And the hits just keep coming for the Flyers!

Gagne Sidelined for Two Weeks

Simon Gagne leads the Flyers in goals with 23

Flyers Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach Jim McCrossin on Friday gave the following update on Flyers forward Simon Gagne.

“Simon had an MRI today at Jefferson Hospital and the MRI revealed that he has a partial tear in the muscle belly of his adductor longus, which is one of his groin muscles. He will be out approximately two weeks. Simon will begin rehab tomorrow, which consists of therapeutic exercises, stretching and rest. We are going to keep him off the ice and he will be re-evaluated again in one week. This is a right groin strain or tear or pull.”

Gagne had the following reaction to the news:

“It’s tough news to take right now, especially with the start I have had and everything was going well. Right now, we’re going through so many injuries and my turn came. It’s tough to take, but at the same time I felt so bad the last two games that I knew something was wrong, so we decided to go take an MRI and found out it was a little tear.”

The Flyers will be calling up Ben Eager from the Phantoms in time for Saturday afternoon’s game at the Wachovia Center against the Minnesota Wild at 2:00 p.m.

No Maurice Richard Trophy for you, guess you’ll have to settle for a Gaold Medal.

hes out for 2 weeks not the rest of the season. my god now i know why everyone thinks your brainless. dont worry jagr wont have built up that much of a lead over gagne.

To the person above,I think it’s premature to say that he would’ve won it anyways. For most of last season Forsberg, Straka, and Lang led the way in points, and the top three ended up being St Louis, Sakic, and Kovalchuck.

This really hurts the Flyers… this season kicks ass. People said the Leafs would be plagued with injuries… well remember my pre-season article?

    ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!!!

Although now that I think about it…

The Leafs lack of injuries is a bad thing. The Leafs play their best hockey when they have a few key injuries. Since Sundin came back they’ve been real weak.

well it looks like the phantoms will have to defend their title in the nhl instead this year, lol. don’t worry my little leaf fans, the flyers will be back in no time at all and stronger than ever.

  5. Kamakaze says:

Well, this is good news for my Devils, but the FLyers will make the playoffs, and perhaps all these injuries will be good for them, it may lead to more refreshed players come post-season. However, i would be concerned because a lot of these guys havn’t played together much, so that lost time to build chemistry does hurt.

  6. muckies says:

Jagr i’m not worried about, he’s already played 31 games.

Heatley and Alfie have played 25 games, how many goals dod you think those 2 will get in the nest 6 games, 3-4 each. The Sens play Calgary on Hockey Night in Cahada saturday. As a Sens fan, U say this is the closest thing to a Playoff game the Sens get this year.

The Olympic meeting is the next day, time for Spezza and Heatley to shine.

The big line is going to have a huge west coast swing, I’m saying by the end of the week, Alfie and Heatley are 1-2 in the maurice Richard race, and they’ll stay at the top for the rest of the year.

Phantoms will lose too have you seen how well the Baby Pens have been doing?

  8. Marky2Fresh says:

There goes his 50 in 50

  9. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

ummm #1 im not a sens fan. #2 heatley and alfie have to start scoring soon because they havent recently.

  10. Chopstiks says:

See he always starts talking about the sens even if the thread has absolutely nothing to do with them. Honestly.

  11. NemiNA says:

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

At least it happening now instead of MARCH

  12. N25philly says:

Well, at least they are getting Forsberg and Eshe back tonight, so it won’t be so bad.

  13. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

    good point.

  14. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

and how many goals did alfredsson and heatley get muckies. exactly talk to me when you get a brain bud.

  15. muckies says:

Hey chill girlfriend.. no need to get *****y.

I made my predictions for the Calgary game tonite on HNIC. If they don’t score and have a big game, come back tomorrow and get your little revenge thing.

Peace Bro, i like Sakic. He’ll be captain of Team Canada if Mario doesn’t go to Turin.

  16. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

wierd when i traded away heatley and spezza in my fantasy hockey pool they havent done that well. same with gagne he even got injured.

  17. CechmanekForVezina says:

Esche can stay on the IR for all I care. Niitty is the man. And then next year we’ll find someone else. Then next year…

  18. wec69 says:

how can you kick esche to the curb so quickly? fairweather fan?

  19. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

how many points for heatley/spezza/alfie muckies???

  20. CechmanekForVezina says:

Because we have a new starter every year. That’s just how it works.

  21. skatefast says:

The Flyers are this year’s LA Kings (from 03-04)

  22. cecilturtle says:

Hide the fact that the Flyers goaltending is not strong enough to go deep into the playoffs. Now Clarke has no pressure to get a goalie because he will just say that he is sure his team will be just fine come playoff time when his “veteren injury pron” players are “healthy”!
