And the Russians get…..NOTHING. All cases involving Malkin dismissed.

TSN.ca is reporting that yesterday the U.S. Disctrict Court in New York dismissed both complaints from Magnitogorsk against the NHL, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Evgeni Malkin.

In essence the decision came down to Malkin, the NHL, and the Penguins arguing that Malkin had followed procedure as to releasing himself from the Metallurg Magnitogorsk contract, by tending a two week notice to the team. According to Russian labor laws any employee, with or without a contract, is able to tend their resignation with a two-week notice. The Federal Court agreed that Malkin had followed procedure as per the Russian Labor law and dismissed all litigation concerning Malkin and his contract with Magnitogorsk.

This is good news for the entire NHL as whole, not just the Pittsburgh Penguins. How long before the Russian Federation decides to sign in the dotted line along with the rest of the IIHF for the new transfer agreement with the NHL?
