wow thats a slap in the face

  3. Bishop7979 says:

He’s making 800k, has what like 20 points in 35 or so games playing on the third line, what’s the problem here? I dont understand why they would want to dump the guy.

    total dick move

  4. Lint07 says:

gotta agree ewith everyone on this, total classless move by the organization if this rumor is true.

The guy is good at winning faceoffs, has alot of leadership/experience and can be used as a 3rd or 4th line center… and he cost next to nothing.

    welcome to the new NHL.

Wow…I didn’t see that one comin’ though. At $800,000 per year, Andreychuk wasn’t takin’ a lot of salary room, and is a true leader for the young LeCavalier, Richards, Kubina…

Mogilny on his way to Tampa ? I don’t know. I could see him there, but I think Tampa would need to clear another salary before it happens. No matter why they did it, a very questionable move in my book. Other players should have been cut before the captain…

  6. mtrakker85 says:

He won’t be out of work long. Any team, espically ones that are hit with the injury bug will gobble him up.

I guess teams are getting ready for the trade deadline…

But waiving your team captain! Something like this says alot about the franchise.

  8. gg_idiot says:

BS. Sportsnet has confirmed this. Way to get rid of your captain, idiots. We remember how getting rid of your captain panned out for Boston earlier this season, even if Thornton is alot better, getting rid of the Captain when he’s getting .5 points a game for less than a million dollars a year, what a dumb move.

according to eklund its completely false but hell that guy knows ***** all anyway

  10. mtl_prince says:

I’ll beleive it when theres a press release, not some radio station, a little skechy

Oh, same radio station just reported that Crosby was traded to the Leafs for Sundin, Wellwood, Stajan, Wilm, Colaiacovo and first round draft picks in ’06, ’07, and ’08.

  11. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

really? what a rip off for pittsburgh

  12. Tomato_84 says: is reporting that he is on the trading block, but has not been waived.

It says it is to relieve the team of his salary, however he only has a $800,000 contract….so yea…either way its a slap in the face for such a low salary.

    heres sportsnets article i found:

Tampa is clearing cap space for the upcoming trade with the Rangers… Poti for Ranger. Tampa loves d-men like Poti who could jump into the play and help out on offence. The Rangers in return would get an instant fan favorate in “Ranger”.

Calgary is looking for a number one centre… Andreychuk is not that but he would be a wonderful asset to a relatively young team in Calgary. Andreychuk would be great for Calgary.

This is also the new NHL people, when a GM can sign Mogilny, and Andreychuk because they just want them off the market and then put them on waivers once they realised they overpaid them or don’t need them

  15. Komisarek says:

lol…you really like that Ranger guy !

  16. jocool_88 says:

This was just updated by TSN.

Tampa Bay forward Dave Andreychuk has not been waived by the Lightning, contrary to a radio report out of Toronto, but the veteran is being shopped to other teams by GM Jay Feaster.

For what it is worth, as you are trying to sort through this mess of misreporting, the FourthPeriod is reporting that all these Andreychuk rumors are completely false.

    TOTALLY CLASSLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!! TAMPA BAY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find it sad that a team would do this. I find it sadder that my team would do this. JFJ did this Martchment and Thomas at the beginning of this season, and Gilmour at the beginning of last. You don’t embarass a hall of famer like that.

  20. penguinos66 says:

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! it is a rip, no one from the leafs should play for another team, theyre all babies

  21. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

putting andreychuk on the trading block now???? wow good job TBAY way to slap your captain in the face. hes good at getting face offs he is on the third or fourth line and he has what 20-30 points with an 800k salary. yea good job way to show respect. i dont care if its to dump salary your getting your moneys worth with your captain why would you trade him.

  22. nyrules11 says:

    wouldnt mind that…..

Ranger is a big reason that Tampa beat the Rangers. He played great.

  23. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

They suck? theyve made it further then Toronto in the last 40 years!!!

  24. LeafyMcLeaf says:

Actually 39 years ago the Leafs happened to have won a cup.

You know how many times the Lightning have ever done better then the Leafs???

  25. Hockey_Fan_99 says:

one too many! have the leafs even been in the finals since there last cup 40 years ago?

  26. Laus723 says:

toronto makes a horribly false report and the lightning are the classless ones? how about the radio station for going tabloid style with their class??? i understand him being on the trading block since he’s older and this is the “new nhl,” but they wouldn’t do that…especially with rammer and dave being former teammates and close friends!

what would make you make such a blanket statement that tampa’s classless??? what have they done to have you even bring that up? wina stanley cup? oh, oops, ouch!

  27. Laus723 says:

wow, 39 years ago they won, and have done what since??? oh, they keep falling short. typical whiny leaf fan mad about a florida team winning the cup, HAHA!

I think I finally figured out why Tampa is shopping Anderychuk. They are more than likely trying to resign Brad Richards BEFORE he becomes an UFA on July 1. And, seeing how it is after January 1st of the final year of Richards’ contract, the team is now able to renogitiate the existing deal. Obviously, if Richards were to be willing to sign on with TB before testing the waters of unrestricted free agency, then he would certainly be need an upgrade on the current year of any renogiated contract. It never looks good trying to move your captain, but this move might be the best one available for Tampa for the following few years.

  29. Neely4Life says:

ya smart. the defending cup champions are in trouble, and might have trouble making the playoffs, and they r gonna try n dump their leader, who is making jack shit. If they do waive him, i hoep richards leaves for Washington to play with ovechkin, and the ***** tampa for the next 5 years, until they suck again and move.
