Antropov to Detroit?

Spector’s News is reporting that the Leafs might be interested in trading Antropov to Detroit for a draft pick.

“August/02/2006 at 4pm Edge radio in Toronto claims a trade brewing sending Antropov to Detroit for a 3rd rounder thus freeing up some salary cap for Carter.”

Take it for what it’s worth…

You are right, it doesn’t. But it doen’t mean it wont happen. Even if it doesn’t happen and antropov is gone, then we still have an extra million at the trade deadline that could bring in a person like Weight or a guy they could use during the playoffs.

  2. Francis10 says:

So in comparison then, Because Antropov is a career +49 he is a btter player the Alexander Ovechkin because Ovie is only a career +1. +/- is over rated. Its all about the team basically. Because a defenseman can do his job properly and the goalie give up a goal and it effects everyones +/-

It really is not a good stats to judge players on.

read my comment from 14:20pm…in case your wondering what time that is, it’s when the big hand is on the 4 and the little hand is just past the 2…check out your Mickey Mouse watch and you’ll see what l mean.. your prior post stated 6, now five, way to back yourself up……my comments were 4 prior times-excluding his season in Vancouver you window licker… due to the fact that you stated he was 30 goal scorer, my comments were how many times he’s scored over 20 before he hit 33…..if you would like to play this game l have no problems but you still missed the whole point on trading antropov for a 3rd round pick…not worth it and l wouldn’t….

  4. Oley says:

    ***** it, i’d trade him for a 9th rounder

I’m glad to see the spirited debate…

but am even more happier knowing that alot of Leaf fans see beyond the media fog…

    I love hard hitting… rockem sockem hockey…

but I have always believed and played with the TEAM in mind…

when McCabe goes to throw a double cheeker and leaves a gapping hole is it a good play or bad….

when Tucker goes and knocks over a player but is the last man on his side…. is it a good play…

When O’Neil tries to set up behind the enemy D leaving an odd man break happen is it the right move…

Their has been too much selfish play of late on the Leafs.. generated by Quinn a man who promoted it…

The media says we didn’t draft well… I say we had stars here that were degenerated…

Look at Boyes now on a shit team…

I believe Maurice will be a better boss…

I think the Gold on this younf team will finally pay off…

Stajan is the best two way guy around.. with Steen on his wing… they both will elevate…

Wellwood with Sundin shooting.. will hit 100 PTs each…

Tucker Peca Antropov would be the most dominant shutdown line ever…. each with a role to play and backup ….

Ian White with Kubina will battle Kaberle and McCabe for the top pairing…

and give us the best D in the game…. the Four Horsemen…. our 5th to 7th will Rock too…

    Youth will finally matter…

You don’t create Wayne Gretzky’s by sitting rookies… you build them with belief and support..

Personally I don’t hate Pat Quinn… but Professionally I hope he never gets another Hockey job ever… he was bad for the game… same as Lou Lamierello….

The New Game is fast… and it is young….

Antropov isn’t as slow as his 6’6 frame makes him seem… I never seen too many players blow by him…

most people mistake a Domi or a Tucker (small)flailing to keep the same speed as a Sundin who is a large man…. two strides for every 6 of the other..

but for me there has never been a Leaf Captain that has bled blue with no help like Sundin…

he has suffered years of no 100 PT seasons in Toronto through no fault of his own… he has been a complete class act… and has taken blame for others repeatedly…. he deserves honour more then any other Leaf Captain…

There is honour to be had… and bar a few players I think we can do it this year…

The right system…. the youth… a few quality additions… I think we could go to the final…

I think the dynasty will come later through our youth…

don’t think JFJ is the guy to take us there….

but I think we will get close soon…

Antropov is a key guy on the third line…

for his price he is a bargain… and so are the others that will help Sundin…

I’m on board with you orlandomac

Leafs could be a pretty good team next year, we’ll wait and see what happens.

I dont agree totally with the Ferguson comment. I think he’s doing a good job, inexperience may have caused him to overpay for some players, but they were players the Leafs couldnt overlook!

  7. orlandomac says:

HoonD.. I can appreciate your thoughts…

    Positive thinking…

I guess we are in a wait and see situation… I hope you are right… I just see a knee jerk reaction from him…

I hope his assessments have been correct.. but I think the coaching is what will make the difference…

Maurice gets it right… this team will be dangerous…

I believe McCabe, Kubina, and Gill are overpaid.. but agree with you that paired up properly they fill vital roles…

Maurice is the difference though not JFJ…

but If Maurice can’t get the mismatches to work I don’t believe it is his fault… because JFJ has made this team slower.. not faster..

but I believe Maurice is up to the challenge…

and I believe our youth will shine under the right light…

“Miguel” sends in the following: “I cought the backlash on your site from my post lol, I would like to respond to one and then give you an update on Antro

“Adam” responds to yesterday’s mailbag on Nik Antropov: “I was surprised to read that JFJ has tried to unload Matt Stajan but could get anything of value while Antropov could? I don’t think there is a team in the league that would like Stajan’s services while Antropov’s stock has been plummeting for years. This statement is unbeleivable, which throws into question the voracity of the whole idea. “

The problem wasent that Antro is more valuable its that Stajan is worth more than just a pick so thats why JFJ has turned to trading antropov instead to clear cap space. Nothing to do with talent or that JFJ cant get a return on Stajan just not a good enough one for his services.

Anyways! Listening to Leafs Lunch today on AM640 and my rumor was confirmed by Bill Watters that there are talks of Antropov going to Detroit the feeling being that Antropov would do well in different surroundings and he could produce on a line with Datsyuk.”

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. leafmaniac says:

i strongly disagree. Can someone tell me what Antropov has done to effectively improve the team, besides stay off the ice. The guy spent most of his time in the sin bin because of dumb penalties.

  10. leafmaniac says:

yeah.AND Carter has agreed to take a paycut..bringing him down to the 1.5 mil range. Carter and a 3rd round pick for Antropov, thats a steal. i would be happy just GIVING that guy away, he’s a waste of money.

  11. leafmaniac says:

Marky2fresh you are THE MAN. finally somebody with some sense, Antropov is terrible, send the guy home he’s useless, i’ll by him a one way ticket back to Kazakstan!

  12. orlandomac says:

You guys are both funny… I am ill… have a fever… and you both made me laugh with the dry sarcastic humour….

    Thank You

  13. Francis10 says:

Here is your post saying that he did get 20 goals 3 times and 30 once. Now when I was in grade 1 and my teacher asked me if she had 3 apples and I had 1 apple and if we added them together she told me that we would have 4 apples. Hopefully math hasn’t changed since then. because 1 30 goal season and 3 20 goal season equals 4 20 goal seasons. Now if you corrected yourself in a later post, you can give me crap for doing it, because this post was the 1st one you quoted. I was originally wrong because on the tsn website, it had NYR and EDM listed and then the total… most sites break it up better then that. We were both wrong. I can admit that. All I was trying to say is that Anson Carter had 30+ goalds with the Sedins, not the most talented players to play with. What did Antropov do with Sundin last year? not even 15 goals. Even Jonus Hogland does better then that when with sundin… where is good old Hogland, hes better then Antropov.

If anyone thinks that Recieving Carter and a 3rd round pick, for Nik Antropov, is not a good deal for the person getting Carter, well i’ll put it this way… There is a reason why you are not a GM of a Hockey team…

Yes a 30 Goal scorer….Once in his career, you can hardly say he’s a pure goal scorer, and hit the 20 goal mark 3 times…is he an upgrade,,,yes but don’t try and tell me he’s a legitimate 30 goal scorer…if he hit 30 goals this year he would bolt for more money and leave the leafs because they surely wouldn’t pay him 3 plus per year at 32 years of age…give your head a shake….there’s also a flip side to that coin, what if he doesn’t score 30 goals and is a bust, he’s on a one year contract, the leafs won’t resign him and Antropov is in Detroit, what player are you going to sign for 2 plus million that will score you 30 goals…? I guess you didn’t think about that…this a buisness first and foremost..

  14. leafhater says:

Why did the leafs sign him and now want to trade him?

  15. leafhater says:

    They are both garbage.

  16. Francis10 says:

Sorry, garbage doesn’t score 30 goals
