Are the Wings after Hemsky
The Red Wings, with $5.6 million in cap room, would probably like to add another offensive top-six or top-nine player at the deadline. It’s no secret Detroit GM Ken Holland has long been an Ales Hemsky fan. He stuck a dagger in their hearts in the first round of the 2006 playoffs in Game 6 in Edmonton.
The Oilers winger, who is an an unrestricted free-agent July 1, would cost the Oilers about $1 million in cap hit if they wanted him at the deadline. The Red Wings would also like an extra, veteran defenceman in the late Ruslan Salei mould … Some folks might like to kick a guy when he’s down, but Los Angeles Kings winger Ethan Moreau clearing waivers and being sent to the AHL in Manchester, N.H., Saturday is a certain indication his body is wearing out at 36. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. He’s played hard for 928 games.

Interesting rumour! I think Hemsky would be a great fit with the Red Wings. He is such a great playmaker he would fit right in with all those guys who can bury.
Then you have Datsyuk on one line, Filpulla on another, and Hemsky on another and have 3 awesome passers rolling.
Say they could land Hemsky for a 1st rounder, prospect, and maybe (I haven't been following Edmontont too closely but) if the Oilers are still in the market for a d-man, the Wings could add Commodore, Ericsson, or Kindl, or some kind of package like this.
But anyways their fwd lines could be like this:
Franzen – Datsyuk – Hudler
Bertuzzi – Zetterberg – Cleary
Holmstrom – Filpulla – Hemsky
then the 4th line would be made up of Helm, Miller, Abdelkaeder, Eaves, Emmerton
After I wrote that first part I realized it would be better to have Zetterberg in the middle and Filpulla as well.. let me try those lines again –
Franzen – Datsyuk – Hudler
Cleary – Zetterberg – Hemsky
Holmstrom – Filpulla – Bertuzzi
Oh, hell ya, that would be tough to stop. And would give Zetts a boost in my keeper pool, very important.
Yeah, that's a pretty scary top 8.
Semi-related note: What's up with motown this year? They're as up an down as a early pubescent teenager.
Good question. Didn't they win the first 6 games, then like lose 5 in a row, then like win 7 of 8 and then drop like 4… so streaky, its bizarre.
