Attention pool players and bruins fans:

Bruins captain Joe Thornton left last nights game with what NESN is reporting as an “upper body injury”. With playoffs approaching we can assume that that is the best information we are going to get. His status remains in doubt.

Thornton was driving hard to the net early in the third period with his team down 2-1. He was taken down hard and slid into ”Olie the Goalie”. Joe withered in obvious pain as a collective silence came over the Fleet Center crowd and across Bruins Nation. As the trainer ran to the ice, Joe cussed and growned in what looked like serious pain.

A penalty was called on the play as the captain made his way to the bench. Thornton came back onto the ice for the next shift and made a nifty pass to Glen Murray who tied the game with his 31st of the year. After the goal Thornton made his way down the runway and soon left the game.

As stated, his injury is termed upper body and with playoffs looming, I think that is all we can expect. Could be a devastating blow to an upstart team heading into the postseason.
