The Colorado Avalanche are contemplating starting Montreal’s former netminder, for his return to the Bell Center. (Theo’s morale seems to be up right now, and if he wins this game, his morale will sky-rocket… but if the Bell-Center-booes gets to him, his morale will plumet.)
Avs’ coach Joel Quenneville said this week that there was a good chance to see Theodore play against his former team on saturday.
What are your thoughts, should Quenneville go with Theo or give him the night off?
Now, we all know, habs fans or not, Montreal desperately needs that center n.2 to back up Koivu. We also know that Gainey likes the idea of a big, right handed center. A veteran center who is a good two way player, could help youngsters. We also know the Kings are probably looking to get younger up front. You do the math…
Minnesota Wild forward Pascal Dupuis will be out four to six weeks with a sprained left knee.
Yet another Toronto Maple Leafs defensemen has gotten hurt. According to TSN.ca, Pavel Kubina left the game with a knee injury, and did not return (wasn’t home, didn’t see the whole game), joining Colaiacovo, Bell, Wozniewsky, and Kronwall, as the Leafs injured players. This is going to lead to speculation of an impending deal or signing. Tellqvist will likely be gone to make room, and with Marchment and Leetch still available, there are still plenty of options for the Maple Leafs.
The Vancouver Canucks assigned backup goaltender Wade Flaherty to the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League on Friday.
The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Ethan Moreau to a four-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2010-11 season.
Moreau scored 11 goals with 16 assists and 87 penalty minutes in 74 games last year and was second on the Oilers with a plus-6 rating. A key penalty killer, the six-foot-two, 220-pound native of Huntsville, Ont., is an assistant captain for the club.

TSN is reporting Boyd Devereaux has signed a 1 year, 2 Way deal with the Leafs.
The Nashville Predators named defenseman Kimmo Timonen as their third captain.
Ray Shero, General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins, was able to beat a 5 p.m. deadline Monday and sign forward Jordan Staal and defenseman Kristopher Letang to entry-level contracts. This does not mean that Staal and Letang will play the entire season with Pittsburgh, because they are able to play a total of 9 NHL games and then be returned to their Junior teams.
CKNW in Vancouver is reporting that the Pittsburgh Penguins may be looking to trade Marc-Andre Fleury. His poor performance at camp and during the preseason (excepting Saturday’s loss) has made Jocelyn Thibault the possible number one goalie.
CKNW reported that Ray Shero was looking to trade Fleury to a Western Conference team.
However CDKA Pittsburgh is reporting that Fleury will start in net against Philadelphia on Thursday.
Team 1200 has just reported that the Habs have traded Mike Ribiero and a 6th round pick in 2007 to the Stars for Janne Niinimaa and a 5th round pick in 2008.

The Columbus Dispatch has reported that Rolland Hedges, Nikolai Zherdev’s agent, has been asking Doug MacLean for a trade for some time now.
And apparently he has been talking to other GMs about Zherdev, from his quotes to the Dispatch:
A Russian court ruled that Evgeni Malkin cannot play for the Penguins this season. See link to the story inside.
It’s not much of a problem, but rather fixing a problem. The NHL Board of Governers has recently approved a variety of rule cahnges and modifications, which are listed below.
