Caps sign Halpern

The Washington Capitals today signed center Jeff Halpern, a restricted free agent, to a two-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal also includes a club option for a third year.

European Invasion

In the constant battle to gain an upper edge on their opposition, NHl teams have drstically expanded their scouting into previously untapped areas. More and more europeans are being drafted than ever before, and a significant number of those “prospects” are well into their 20’s.

Puck Sight (Sept 25)

8 Days. 8 more days and the new season will be underway. Camps rosters are being trimmed down this week, the waiver draft goes on Friday, each team has three or four more fun games, and then… it’s “Game On!”

Bryan Berard's possible comeback

It’s been reported on the FAN590 in Toronto and Sportsnet.ca, that after skating with friends, as well as the US Olympic team camp, that Bryan Berard is contemplating a comeback.

Stars Prospects, Rob DiMaio, New Arena

Watched the first home game at the new American Airlines Center last night. A few notes:

Goalies, Goalies Everywhere.

Goaltender. Like the pitcher in baseball or the quarterback in football, a goalie can win or lose games almost by himself. You can have a bad team and still have a great goalie, like Florida. But you can’t possibly have a Stanley Cup winning team without the goaltending to go with it. Some teams need goalies right now and some teams have too many…

Our resident Red Wings fan, “Aaron” forwarded a local Detroit article to me about Chris Osgood that really changed my perspective on the guy. I’ll outline the article for you all, and toss in some thoughts aswell.
