Sabres Accept Briere's Arbitration Award

The Buffalo Sabres have accepted Daniel Briere’s arbitration award.

Antropov to Detroit?

Spector’s News is reporting that the Leafs might be interested in trading Antropov to Detroit for a draft pick.

“August/02/2006 at 4pm Edge radio in Toronto claims a trade brewing sending Antropov to Detroit for a 3rd rounder thus freeing up some salary cap for Carter.”

Dumont Awarded

Buffalo Sabres forward J.P. Dumont has been awarded a one-year, $2.9 million contract in arbitration, according to reports.

Dumont made $1.596 million last season, scoring 20 goals and 40 points in 54 games.

The Sabres have 48 hours after their final arbitration hearing with centre Adam Mair to make a decision on the award. If the Sabres reject the ruling, he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Sabres re-sign Afinogenov

Yet another multi-year signing for the Sabres arbitration eligible players. Out of 12 who filed, only 2 so far have made it to a hearing with only Adam Mair left to go.

Terms of the deal were not announced, as is usual with club policy.

Predators sign Hartnell to one-year deal

According to tsn, The Nashville Predators avoided arbitration with forward Scott Hartnell on Tuesday, signing him to a $1.75 million, one-year contract.

Capitals re-sign Pettinger

The Washington Capitals have resigned RFA Matt Pettinger to a 3-year-deal, he was scheduled for arbitation tomorrow. (terms were undiclosed).

Pettinger had a career high 20 goals and 18 assists with 38 points last year.

Panthers spend on Van Ryn

TSN reports that the Florida Panthers have locked up Mike Van Ryn with a 4-year, 11.6 million dollar contract.

Connolly staying

TSN reports that the Buffalo Sabres have signed Tim Connolly to a 3-year, 8.9 million dollar contract.

Sabres Re-Sign Gaustad

According to sportsnet.ca the Buffalo Sabres have reached a deal with centre Paul Gaustad who avoided salary arbitration by signing a $1.425-million US, two-year contract Sunday.

Finley to the Bruins

According to the Bruins’s website, the B’s have signed the former Preds netminder prospect, Brian Finley.

Ferguson NOT done

According to TSN John Ferguson Jr has admitted he is not done revamping the leafs roster, but that he would most likely have to do it in a trade. Also, hockeybuzz is reporting the Leafs are expected to sign Anson Carter sometime this weekend.

Langfeld with Red Wings?

NHLPA is reporting that the Detriot Red Wings have signed right-wing Josh Langfeld.

Dunham an Islander?

According to Bangor Daily News: Larry Mahoney reports NY Islanders GM Garth Snow is considering UFA Mike Dunham as his potential replacement as the club’s backup goalie. They were teammates on the University of Maine Black Bears in the early 1990s.

Ducks trading Vishnevski?

According to TSN, the Ducks are apparently actively shopping defensemen Vitaly Vishnevski after he’s been awarded a 1-year, 1.55M$ contract. If they can’t find a taker, they might opt not to accept the arbitrator ruling thus making Vishnevski an Unrestricted Free Agent.
