Jun 25 The Florida Panthers inquired about Pronger Saturday, but backed off due to Edmonton’s proposal, according to the New York Post.

Recommendation: The rumor mill has it that Edmonton GM Kevin Lowe asked for Jay Bouwmeester, Nathan Horton and Florida’s first round pick in the draft (10th overall) in exchange for Pronger. It seems Edmonton is willing to honor the defenseman’s trade request, but the asking price will not be cheap. The Rangers, Coyotes and Senators are expected to jump in the sweepstakes, but they should prepare to pony up a steep price to Edmonton in the early stages of trade negotiations. Stay tuned.

Red Wings re-sign Osgood

The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed veteran goaltender Chris Osgood to a two-year contract.

Financial terms are not yet know.

Osgood, 33, posted a 20-6-5 record with a 2.76 goals-against-average and .897 save percentage with the Wings last season.

In 600 career NHL games, Osgood has picked up a 325-183-71 record, 2.45 GAA and a .910 save percentage. He was originally drafted 54th overall in the 1991 Entry Draft by the Wings.
