Mid-term grades on teams that have completed Game 41.
The Comrie trade to the Ottawa Senators could have a domino effect on the league.
To counter that statement, why could the general managers be nervous to not make as many trades as the media and fans expect? Find out another reason other than the usual “cap” talk.
And before you continue, congrats to Team Canada defeating Team USA in the WJC semi-finals in shootouts. USA had many opportunities to put the game away in OT, but failed to score as they hit a crossbar. Goalie Frazee was outperformed by Carey Price (something tells me Frazee won’t be so good in NHL shootouts). Good luck to Team Canada in the Finals, and Team USA for the Bronze medal. By the way, I hope that a Swiss ref won’t be used in the medal games and in next year’s WJC. Go Canada! Go USA!
How could the NHL get humiliated? Ask the nearly half a million NHL fans who…. well, you’ll find out as soon as you click “Read More”.
Are bigger nets the answer? No. I am a traditionalist in a lot of things, and I am all for advancing NHL hockey to a new level, but let’s keep its infrastructure as is. Here are two proposals to add more scoring and speeding up the pace of the game. They could get a lot of “no’s” but I’d approve of them.
This is the one Original Sixer that barely gets any attention; how about a little Blackhawks talk?
The New York Rangers are snowballing; can they stop it and what could be the real problem? Rangers fans ought to read this one.
Check out what I got for Christmas; nothing really special but if you like SKA/Punk music (a la Sublime), check out these two bands.
Changes could soon come in New York. Which team? Both of them.
Sorry Canada, no Crosby for you. The Penguins must stay in the Pittsburgh, Penn. USA.
New Year’s resolution for all 30 general managers in the NHL.
The New York Islanders have once again made a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers this month by sending center Mike York in exchange for Randy Robitaille. The roster freeze is currently in effect.
About 3 weeks ago was the anniversary of the Joe Thornton trade that sent him to the SJ Sharks in exchange for Wayne Primeau, Marco Sturm, and Brad Stuart. This, at the time was currently looked at as a HORRIBLE trade for the Boston Bruins. And this became an even stronger opinion after Thornton had a fantastic finish to the season, and walked away with the Art Ross, as well as the Hart Trophy, while the Boston Bruins had a year to forget. Well its now over a year later and most people’s opinion have not changed. ‘THE BRUINS GOT SCREWED!’ Well, this article is being used to give a detailed rebuttal on why, not only did they not ‘get screwed’, but it fact, the Bruins have WON THIS TRADE! (However so has SJ….)
According to philadelphiaflyers.com (team’s official website):
The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired defenseman Alexei Zhitnik from the New York Islanders in exchange for defenseman Freddy Meyer and a conditional draft pick.
This is one of the most upsetting news so far this season. Joe Nieuwendyk, one of the greatest players in NHL history, has decided to hang them up due to health reasons. The class act racked up 1126 points in 1257 games and won three Stanley Cups with the Calgary Flames, 1989, Dallas Stars, 1999, and the New Jersey Devils, 2003.
Thanks for a wonderful career Joey, you did good.
Canucks hockey is becoming dramatic; some fans blaming General Manager Nonis. Who is to blame and what could have been done?
Am I the only one pulling the trigger? I think every general manager in the NHL should have an icon representing them. See, I have the gun ready to fire. Why can’t any other general manager have it? Nonetheless, you name a general manager and you can tell me what their icon/image/avatar/ whataveryoucallit they should have. Could be fun. But, more important is the question “why no trades?!”
What is up with the struggling teams?
Media’s trade rumors are lame. Let’s speculate on what trades could happen any time soon and which teams could be partners.
