Wings pick up option on Hasek

TSN.ca reports that the red wings have chosen to pick up Dominik Hasek’s option for the 2003-2004 season, effectively taking him off the free agent list. However, this option does not guarantee that he will play, but from reports surfacing from around the league, Hasek will replace Joseph as the #1 goaltender in “hockeytown”.

The only last hurdle in this situation is trading Curtis Joseph and the $16m left over in his contract. That will be a tough duty because he has a no-trade clause which he may decide to keep, and force the wings to either trade Hasek or buy him out.

What are your thoughts? who will play next season and what will happen with the other?

Danny Markov Not a Hurricane Yet

Danny Markov is not a Carolina Hurricane yet as much as I would love for him to be one! I think Danny Markov is a great veteram defenceman, still young, and if he does sign a contract with Carolina, doesn’t become a unrestricted free agent, and go play in Russia he will get lots of ice time in Carolina as he would be a top defenceman for the club.
