Hello hockey fans! Isn’t it a joyous month of July? Things got exciting for two straight weeks, my country won the World Cup and some good changes happening in the NHL.
Yet, it seems media people get a bit mental and start shooting out ideas as rumors with “sources”.
According to www.hockeybuzz.com and to a Quebec city radio station (was at the shopping mall… can’t tell which station was online at this time… sorry) Mike Keenan is looking to get a goaltender real soon.
Rocky Mountain News is reporting Avalanche defenseman John-Michael Liles avoided salary arbitration Tuesday when he signed a two-year contract, according to a source close to the situation.
According to Detroit free press and Montreal Gazette…
Rumours about restricted free agent David Aebisher intensify that the wings have made an offer to the Montreal goalie and that is why the talks between the Detroit GM and Belfour have stalled a bit.
The Wings are very interested in Aebisher but no names have been mentioned of whom the Wings would give in return if that deal could be made.
Forward Jan Bulis had a career-high 20 goals last season but the Montreal Canadiens won’t bring back the 28-year-old Czech Olympian. His agent Jiri Crha said Friday that a deal was close at hand with another team.
“There are a few teams that want to sign him,” said Crha. “I think something will happen very soon.”
According to the Daily Herald “As it stands now, the Hawks have Mark Bell, Arkhipov and Patrick Sharp as their top three centers. Tuomo Ruutu could be the club’s No. 1 center, but coach Trent Yawney believes Ruutu is more effective at wing.
Bell is believed to be one veteran they are trying to trade.”
According to the Boston Herald ” knowledgeable source, the possibility of free agent winger Brendan Shanahan signing with the B’s is now dead. Reportedly, St. Louis and Detroit are in the running for the 37-year-old’s services.”
Sportsnet.ca is reporting that center, Mike Peca, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are in the process of
serious negotiations with Mike Peca on a contract.
It is being a reported the Mike Peca would take a
paycut from his 4 million dollar salary last year, to
move his family where they will be happier (in Toronto).
The Leafs are dangeroulsy close to the cap, so if they sign Peca it will be difficult to re-sign Eric Lindros.
