10 games in and admitting that Matt Frattin and Tyler Toffoli aren't the answers at LW2, Kings now looking at options off the roster

Trade rumours involving Gardiner have died down. At an average of 19 minutes 41 seconds a game, Gardiner is third in ice time among Leafs defencemen, behind Dion Phaneuf and Cody Franson.
Dreger "the market is open in Florida due to new ownership. I'd still link Florida to Detroit for Tootoo"

One of the players the Maple Leafs have been eying from afar over the past couple of seasons is defenceman Dmitri Kulikov of the Florida Panthers, and Kulikov might just be more available now than he was because of the wreckage of Florida’s early season play.
Very little has gone right so far this year for the Rangers, from the injuries that have depleted the team’s attack to the surprisingly erratic play of Henrik Lundqvist and suspect work in front of him by the Blueshirts’ defensemen.
The biggest problem, however, is the team’s inconsistent effort, coach Alain Vigneault said.
Brown had seven fights as an Oiler, if you’re keeping count, two with Jordin Tootoo, which brings up Tootoo.
There’s been some discussion that the Oilers should now take a run at Tootoo as a fourth-liner because he has some ability with the puck (he has 133 points and 49 career goals).
Kulikov to Leafs trade rumors eminated from Toronto Sun. So early for these rumors. Panthers are easy target bec of good young players.

At this time last week, no doubt everyone thought Edmonton was going to make a goalie move. The Oilers didn’t for two reasons. First, they just didn’t believe what they could get would really solve their problems long-term.
The Toronto Maple Leafs failed to trade John-Michael Liles last season, then opted to use their compliance buyouts on Mikhail Grabovski and Mike Komisarek instead. Word is, the Leafs might be willing to assume some of Liles’ salary if they can move the veteran, now biding time with the Toronto Marlies. Nonis now has no other option, save letting Liles toil away in the AHL until the 2015-16 season concludes. Liles may not be top-four material anymore, but he’s good enough to play in the NHL still.

Red Wings will need to trim one more player.
Jordin Tootoo appears to be the most susceptible.
If the Florida Panthers are moving veterans to cut payroll, and they consider Shawn Matthias a veteran of sorts, the Edmonton Oilers might be all over that. They’ve tried to get the six-foot-four, 220-pound centre before and were rebuffed.
Hockey people know the fans want Regier gone. Whether the team will ax him is another matter. Prominent folks are eager to see what happens.
Nonis said he hasn’t considered trading Jake Gardiner and doesn’t believe in trading young defencemen. “How many teams have made mistakes trading a young defencemen too soon?”
less than a month since Vincent Viola and Douglas Cifu took over the franchise — sources say the Panthers are prepared to move any of their veteran players.
Ilya Bryzgalov’s camp tryout with the Las Vegas Wranglers is over and now he continues to wait for an NHL opportunity.
Not surprisingly, these teams are languishing in the early-season standings. That, combined with the increased competition for playoff spots given the NHL’s realignment, has amped up discussion about alternatives and, most specifically, how the dominoes might fall vis-à-vis a couple of high-profile netminders — Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres and erstwhile free agent netminder Ilya Bryzgalov.
And just so you know, there was talk Wednesday afternoon that the Sabres were working on a deal with Edmonton that would send Ryan Miller or Thomas Vanek and possibly both to the Oilers in a package that would bring Nail Yakupov and more to Buffalo. Whether it actually happens is another story. But as it stood Wednesday, the two sides had considered, or were considering, a major swap.
