After finishing 6th in the Western conference with 98 points and going to the conference finals, the Ducks were looking good with a core of young players’ mixed with some veterans. They were a good team and they improved by adding superstar Chris Pronger.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are making decisions that they normally wouldn’t in the past. Being forced to spend under $44 million dollars when the team is accustomed to no limits at all is forcing the team to change philosophy.
According various message boards and unconfirmed reports the Vancouver Canucks are interested in acquiring free agent right-winger Valeri Bure. Bure has not played in an NHL game since 2003-04 due to back injuries and the lockout that took place the following season.
According to sportsnet.ca knee surgery will keep Montreal Canadiens defenceman Francis Bouillon out until November. Bouillon underwent knee surgery on Wednesday and won’t be able to play until the first week of November, according to the Montreal Gazette.

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced that it signed center Brett McLean to a one-year deal late Thursday night avoiding an arbitration hearing that was scheduled for Friday.

The Phoenix Coyotes avoided arbitration with centre Mike Comrie, signing him to a one-year deal worth $3 million US prior to Friday’s scheduled hearing. Comrie earned $1.748-million US last season.
Mika Noronen former Canucks backup goalie has signed with the Russian Elite League, this is because he did not want to backup Loungo next season, he would only be playing a few games which would be around 10.
