The Montreal GM apparently just offerred Souray-Ryder-Propect-1st Round Pick to Sasn Jose in exchange for Marleau-McLaren. Washinton, who is still under the minimum cap, are apparently also looking to acquire Radek Bonk.

Righting the Good Ship Maple Leaf

JFJ has not been shy about making moves as the Leafs GM. Pre Lockout, he and Pat Quinn stated they would go for a serious Cup run and trade away some of their future for a chance to win the Cup. After losing out on the Sergie Gonchar sweepstakes, the rookie GM made traded for Brian Leetch to solidify his blue line. The trade still resonates more in New York then Toronto.

Coyotes Seek Scoring Help

Coyotes executives likely will be monitoring the salary arbitration case of New Jersey Devils center Scott Gomez on Friday.

The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger reported that if the arbitrator sides with Gomez, the Devils may have to trade him because of salary-cap concerns.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that Keith Acton, Dallas Eakins, and Randy Ladouceur have been named assistant coaches.

Rangers to Deal Weekes to St. Louis or Florida???

Word on other Rumor sites is that the Rangers have been shopping Kevin Weekes around the League and that he has requested a trade as of last week. Supposedly Sather has talked to the Panthers and the Blues.

Thrashers sign Kapanen

According to tsn.ca

The Atlanta Thrashers have signed restricted free agent centre Niko Kapanen to a multiple-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

No Zherdev for Jackets?

According to Columbus Post_Dispatch, Columbus Blue Jackets winger Nikolai Zherdev, who is a restricted free agent, has signed a contract with Khimik Voskresensk of the Russian Superleague. Zherdev will be able to get out of the contract if he signs with the Blue Jackets.
