Who is to say someone will be traded or will not, for the most part or this article i agree with the assumption of the players you chose. For everyone elese who is getting defensive about certain players like Hecht leaving buffalo who cares? do they really need him? im sure they could use some defencesive help opposed to more offense. As for McCabe, overpaid yes but he is NOT overrated he can score and as of recent his +/- has been respectable which makes him a good fit for any team in the new n.h.l. but you have to look at his no trade clause. I have been told from an annoymous source that he will NOT waive his no trade clause at the deadline this season and lets not get on our high horse about Satan terrible overrated and overpaid hockey player the NYI would have to put some package together just to get any decent defensman at the deadline if anyone would like to know some realities about your favourite teams or players send me a message and i'll try to get the scoop for ya
take her eazy and if shes eazy take her twice

mccabe is not a #1 defenseman...just because a dman puts up points, doesn't make him a good dman. same thing with souray. guys like mccabe and souray are PP specialists and don't have many dimensions to their game. mccabe is a trainwreck in his own zone and takes stupid, costly penalties. if he was such a #1 D, leaf fans wouldnt be itching to trade him.

And being picked right after a great player has what ramifications? Lecavalier was taken 1st overall in 98 and Legwand was 2nd. Sundin was 1st overall in 89 and Dave Chyzowski was 2nd. Just because you're drafted after a great player doesn't mean you inherit their greatness.

hmmm.....I don't see the Kings accepting just a 2nd round pick for Aaron Miller, I can't see the Panthers accepting just Hamel and a 4th round pick for Roberts, I can't see anybody taking Martin Gerber (so you'd probably have to try and demote him to the AHL, which he would refuse), I can't see John Muckler giving up Brian Lee AND Patrick Eaves (and Joe Corvo) for Ryan Smyth, I think Phoenix would want more than a third rounder for Curtis Joseph, I can't see how Ryan Smyth and Gary Roberts fit in anywhere in the Ottawa lines, and I can't see it all fitting under the salary cap. It would be neat though, and I would like to see
Ryan Smyth and Gary Roberts in Sens' jerseys, but it just isn't probable. Plus, if Emery got hurt *knock on wood*, I'd rather see Gerberbetween the pipes than Joseph.
How is McCabe a high value player?!?!?! He's outrageously overpaid, doesn't want to go anywhere, and can't play defense to save his life? No way the Islanders would give up Satan and Campoli! Face it, McCabe isn't going anywhere. And Bobby Ryan isn't going to get traded unless there is some big-time talent coming back the other way, remember, this guy was picked directly after Sid the Kid.
