Bieksa in demand

With Kevin Bieksa fitting so seamlessly with Dan Hamhuis as a shutdown pair, it seems in*****bent upon the Vancouver Canucks to re-sign him this summer. They would miss Christian Ehrhoff’s big shot, but if he walks away, so be it. They still have Alex Edler as their No. 1 guy, and maybe they could bring back Sami Salo for a reduced price. The kid who’s going to wedge himself into lots of playing minutes next year is Chris Tanev. They’ll have to live with Keith Ballard’s $4 million a year for four more years.
This ‘n’ that: – If the San Jose Sharks, who need help on the back end, were to offer winger Devin Setoguchi and, say, defenceman Jason Demers for Flames’ Robyn Regehr, would Calgary do that? Regehr isn’t quite the dominant shutdown guy he was, but he’s only 31. He’s got four good years left. The Flames could use some younger blood . Regehr has two years left at $4 million per season. Setoguchi is a Group 2 free-agent making $1.8 million. Demers makes $1.25 million starting next year.
