Big Names being chased

Two hot rumors are making the rounds regarding very talented and highly sought after veterans. Apparently the Canucks have offered Sundin a two year contract worth a whopping 10 million per season and the Pittsburgh Penguins are in hot pursuit of veteran Jaromir Jagr.

Although not a done deal in either case Sundin is said to be considering all of the options that are on the table. It is also widely speculated that Jagr could leave the NHL to go to Europe and sign a super deal.

Jagr back with the Pens would be phenomenal. Malkin, Crosby, Jagr, Staal… not bad if you ask me.
Just saw that the leafs signed Jeff Finger to a 3.5 over 3-4 years or something like that. I think it's an awful signing. Finger seems to be a late bloomer i believe he is around 29? – I could be wrong. The leafs should really be sitting idle during this free agent period…. I dont mind the CuJo signing but this just doesnt make sense to me.

NO!!!!! 10 MILLION A YEAR FOR SUNDIN!?!?! Why wouldn't give that kind of money to a younger guy like Hossa instead of Sundin? There's probably only about 3 or 4 players in the NHL who are worth 10 million.

Vancouvers gotta do something, they'll have to overpay to land guys, and maybe they needed to throw that kind of cash out to get him, there's probably been a few $8 million offers and they wanted to go above and beyond.

It's only for two years, yes its too much, but it's only for two years. Hossa would be a six or seven year investment. I'd rather have Mats for two and then have options in the short term then be stuck with Hossa.

Today I went to my buddy's house and we watched Borat.

The nostalgia in me wants Jagr back, but the everything else says stay away. Jagr is a cancer and would butt heads with Therrien very quickly. He would be a detriment on the growth of guys like, well, all of them: Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Fleury, Whitney, etc. Jagr would be exactly what you DON'T want your young guys to model. Getting a guy like Gary Roberts was a PERFECT role model for them that has already paid off in the way these young guys take their new-found training seriously.

However, it would be funny as hell if Jagr was back on the Pens and maybe if the spotlight WASN'T on him for once, he'd perform well? He would be damn sick on either Malkin or Sid's line and on the PP.

I'm still hoping for Hossa, and if not him, I guess we settle for Naslund, Huselius or even Demitra or Satan.

Hey, what about Sergei Fedorov for 3 years on the Pens?

Trade Staal and the 3rd rounder from the Malone thing for Rick Nash if all else fails.
