He was terrible in the first half of the season, but he was a different player after the Olympics. He needed his adjustment period to the new style of play. Once they started leaning on him on the PK, he started to respond.

It looks like he is back to finish his career in LA. The Leopold trade was definitely done in necessity in hindsight since it doesn’t look like Colorado thought they could resign him. Leopold is a nice defenseman, and I think he will get better as he matures, but Blake is a big loss for them. He was their impact blueliner. I think he’ll look better next year alongside his old cover man, Norstrom.
