Blake unhappy wants long term deal.

Jason Blake has been one of the best Islanders over the past 6 years and will be an unrestricted free agent at years end, instead of worrying about making the playoffs this guy is worrying about a long term deal.
I love Jason Blake but now is not the time to be complaining about a contract, if he is the player he thinks he his then he will step up these next few weeks and help not only himself but more importantly his team. The Islanders can also use a little more help at the forward position, I hope Snow makes a move sooner rather than later because you have 6 teams battling for the last 2 or 3 of the last playoff spots.

he is a bum. I would trade him now that he is actually worth something

Don't the Islanders hand out long term contracts like candy?

I think you can worry about contracts and hockey at the same time. IF ANYTHING, the Islanders should be bending over backwards to get him a deal. OH WAIT, he actually plays hard every night, the Islanders wouldn't want him.

    TRADE HIM FOR SAMSONOV

Today's top story.. Jason Blake signs a 30 year contract worth 1 billion dollars.. Garth Snow is a genius..

I'm sorry but Jason Blake is not a bum. He's still got a lot to prove in the NHL but he's taken a big step in the right direction with the Islanders, and without him, they'd lack a shit load of offense. I'm sorry to see that this is coming from a Habs fan because now everyone knows how many bums they have on their team. Even Koivu is invisible on the ice.. and Michael Ryder has gone from a promising goal scorer to another ghost out there. And when all of that happens.. the goalies suffer because there's no consistent offense. Plekanec and Bonk can't be consistently depended on for their offense if Koivu is going to amass a lousy 2 points in 11 games. It's just enough. So as much as i'm going into a Canadiens rant.. Blake would make a great addition to the Habs. =) But a PWF is what has been lacking on that team for years. Arnott would have been a prime choice.. but Nashville made the right move.. and are now making the right move towards the Cup.

He'll just be signed to a 15 year/70 million dollar contract at the last minute.

This guy is nothing special.. i'm sorry but if anyone makes it to the nhl and he's one of the better players on the team and plays the most minutes, then they can put up some numbers.  For example, look at darcy tucker.  He scores 20 goals but 15 of them are on the PP.  In actuality, is he that good? probably not.  Blake's numbers are inflated.

Secondly, clearly he is not a team player.  Why worry about a long-term contract when your team is not even in the playoffs… get them there first then talk.  he's upset cuz he wants 15 years.. too bad.

I am a Ranger fan, and if I could pluck 1 player from the Islanders roster to join the Rangers…it would be Blake in a heartbeat. He is not a bum, unless you consider the best player on a team a bum. I really think they should put some thought into signing him now before its too late.

For those trashing him for thinking about a conteact now, remember that people have families, and thinking about uprooting and moving can be very stressful. Give the guy a break.

You can keep your bum on the islanders cause the Habs dont want him

  9. Saku_Koivu11 says:

why dont you marry the guy. He is a bum and i hope to god he doesnt have kids because i dont want any little Blakes coming up in the NHL in the future

If PP goals are so easy why doesnt everyone have them?

I would not watch the Rangers if blake was on them. Blake is a selfish arrogant puck hog, whos 34 years old, very little room for improvement with his age. Jason Blake is not a bum, but I just dont think hes worth as much as some people say. I dont like blake, most people dont, hes a arrogant fuc k for saying that he will test his options and not return if he doesnt have a contract by the deadline.

He's why i hate the islanders.

Blake has every right to feel very slighted because his current contract has not been reworked by Isles management.  There are less than 30 games left in the season and the Isles (By Far!) best player is an unresticted free agent to be at seasons end.  I'm sure Blakes is completely flabbergasted that no contract has been reworked and extended for him giving the "Franchise Player" zero security entering the playoff run.  How would you feel if you were Blake???  Your as small as the smallest players in the league…  Your the best and hardest working player on your team…  Every team the Isles play down this playoff stretch will put a big bullseye on Blake and try to knock him around and off his game…  Players like Yashin and Dipietro (whom Bates is "much!" better than) have lifetime contracts…  Bates as well as first year newcomers to the team, Witt & Sillinger, are signed for this year and the next two.  Wang goes way way way out of his way to "reward" Dipietro with a lifetime contract when he clearly does not deserve one…  But Blake who clearly does deserve one is left fearing for his future because he has absolutly no security from injury if he gets hurt going "all out" every shift during this playoff run.  Because of the "Standard Business Policy" Wang has installed of giving out rediculus undeserved money to his players…  Blake "rightfully" feels slighted.  Listen to me now and remember this later Isles fans…  When you lose Blake (to the Rangers:) in free agency at seasons end…  You will know exactly what a joke your franchise has become under Wang's "stupid!" business practices!;  By not letting Yashin walk after the lockout.  By signing a very averege at best goalie to a lifetime comtract.  By giving long term contracts to several other player who are much less deserving than Blake.  Etc. Etc. Etc…  Wang by his actions has established a standard business policy that for some reason he did not feel like following with Blake.  Now Blake is scorned (For being put in a position to risk his future) and will be surly gone at seasons end!
