Smith is not a number one defensemen at all..if so why would edmonton still be looking for defense? 3rd round draft pick for smith at most.Volchenkov led all with most hits..and is stable in his own end.. thus he is not needed.. Once again , no thank you. Keep your junk

Muckler was dumped for trading big pieces away from otaawa's team. Redden like Alfreddsoon, will not be going anywhere, and at very least for a 3rd liner who rode smyth's back and a lost identity. If Murray does this..i hope he is fired too. The rumor is garbage

Canadian teams don't trade with each other. It's an unwritten rule. BUT if the trade did happen the Oilers would own that.

Smith and Horcoff for Redden and Vermette would be an awesome trade for Edmonton. I just hope they don't give up Lupul or Torres in the deal.

I agree I would like the Senators trade Wade Redden for Jason Smith straight up and Martin Gerber traded for a draft pick and then the Senators can go out and Sign Gary Roberts and Curtis Joesph as the backup goalie to Ray Emery.

I'd do that too, but they won't take Gerber. They've got 2 pretty good goalies - Roloson and Markanen as their backup.

Apparently, there were rumors for Gerber to Phoenix for Derek Morris - but that's just exchanging salaries, cuz morris is 3.9/year for 2 more years. We'll save money though, b/c we then either won't need Preissing or Corvo. Hopefully we can re-sign Preissing and get rid of Corvo.
