I kind of get the feeling that trading Nash might make them finish higher in the standings. Nothing like a playoff spot, but he's been surprisingly mediocre this year and has a *****ing brutal +/-. I don't think they need to spend tons of cash, just change the team up.

Furthermore, call me crazy, but I don't want Nash on the Leafs. Two, three years ago, I'd look at him like Getzlaf: do anything to get him. Unless his contract was around half the $ amount is presently is, I think it would be a bad move. In fact, I can't see a whole lot of teams where he would be a good fit.

That being said, I do think he could have a major resurgence with another team and city, I'm just not convinced of it (could go either way). Columbus blows, the team has perpetually sucked, and other than the Carter move I can't think of much the management has done to aggressively try to improve the team.

Suck to be an Ohian right now.... Well, not that they care about anyways...

They could do both trade Nash and or Carter, aquire extra 1st pick(s) and even see what they might get for 1st overall pick, even though this one seems a no screw up possible lol

They don't have nearly enough cap space to do that though. They only have 15 million dollars next year and about 6 spots to fill. It's not enough. They honestly need to trade Nash. It would be the best thing for this team. Fire Howson, hire a new guy, trade Nash and then pull a Tallon in free agency.

Trading Nash guarantees you go 1st or 2nd overall and you get a shot at Grigorenko or Yakupov. Then you likely 1st rounder from the Nash trade, a top young forward, a top prospect at the very least. Maybe add another first next year or a young stud dman. Than you get about 4 - 5 million added in cap space (8 million less the young player coming back) and you have much more freedom to make a big move. Try and make a move for a Schneider or Bernier. Go after a dman. The team would be a lot better for it.

I doubt it. A lot actually. No way anyone passes on the guy. Maybe, maybe he drops one spot but teams would be idiotic to pass up Yakupov. He's probably the most talented player to get since Tavares, and maybe more so than him.

I disagree, they need to do what Talon did in Florida, keep core assets and go nuts in free agency. They have proven to be unable to develop high picks, why keep trying. Unless they go through a complete front-office overhaul it seems sideways.

Seriously? Do you know how to read the standings? I suppose it could happen, but it seems pretty dumb to make that claim with 3 teams behind them in the standings, four if you count the fact that they have two game in hand on Carolina.
