Blue Jackets trying to sign Foote long term?
The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson had a recent meeting (dinner) with Adam Foote, the soon to be and highly sought after defenseman.
It is speculated that part of the dinner discussion was to discuss the possibility of a long term contract for Foote in Columbus. Howson indicates in this article that he does not want to trade Foote or have to talk to Foote about the possibility of asking him to waive no trade clause. Things are subject to change and it may come to a trade if the Jackets are rapidly falling out of the playoff race at trade deadline time.
