Old news yes,but why when the Leafs have hit rock bottom is he coming out with this to presussure the Leafs to sign or to rub it into their faces or does
he really feel that bad for the Leaf fan !!! I say do whatever it takes to get him the greastest hockey mind in the game , as for myself one of the greatest fans around that never misses a single game is getting sick and tired of all the crap going on with management etc.... You can't blame
maurice he can only do as good as what they provide him with .plus they need somehow to get rid of (waste of capspace) Tucker (has heart that's it) stajan,poni,kubina,kilger,blake,steen,white,belak,wellwood ??? maybe just get rid of everyone and start over !!! Sorry but I would only keep about 4-5 core players and go from there but they can't because idiot JFJ signed all the players that suck to NTC's ,just my rant first timer !!!

Who knows why Peddie walked away? The bottom line is that this clown lobbied to give Fergie a multi-year contract extension last summer, but thank God, it was voted down by the Board.

Do you trust this guy's judgment in choosing Toronto's next GM? I don't.

I was just thinking, the reason MLSE has yet to dismiss Fergie is because he has a "no-firing" clause in his contract.

Seriously, from the article below, the Leafs are stuck with a number of contracts until 2010-11, no thanks to large salaries and no-movement clauses.

A good question to ask, though I find Berger a little dramatic in his blog (thanks for the link though). I saw the Bowman interview during the pregame, I got the impression that as the season approached, with roster set there wasn't much Bowman could do for the team. So Peddie decided to push forward with a 'competitive' Leaf team at the time. The death of JFJ senoir also played a role in the letting up from searching for an advisor. I think this had more to do with Peddie walking away from Bowman than the perception of Peddie's reluctance to give up power. The reason being that there is a precedent for success within MLSE management with Colangelo (whether or not Colangelo was handed to the Raptors, the precendent is there). Colangelo's impact on the Raptors was a motivating factor to search for someone like Bowman. It simply wasn't a good time for the Leafs. Again I think Peddie's role in the demise of the Leafs is exaggerated.

You're right. The only thing Mats owes the Leafs is to honour his contract.

He's given 110% his entire time in Toronto, and they've always been promising him more than they ever gave him to work with.

It would be nice to see a return for him, but it's not his responsibility to waive his NMC.

My only question is why CBC decided to interview Bowman specifically on his talks with the Leafs earlier in the year. It was no secret that Bowman was in talks with the Leafs, so why have him clear the air now. My guess is that it simply makes for more headlines. With the Leafs struggling, and jobs on the line, all this interview did was add more fuel to the fire. Somebody at that network is obviously doing whatever they can to force the hand of the powers that be to make a move. However, this management group has proved time and time again that they will not let the media make decisions for them. I have a feeling that this time will be no different. Trades possibly, but I don't forsee any moves in upper management until the summer.

like Cox has said, this is OLD news. Bowman said all this in the summer. still shocking though.

COMPLETELY AGREE.

dont get me wrong, i would love to see mats traded for a decent return, but i hate reading leaf fans writing that Mats owes us anything and should do the 'honourable thing' and waive his NTC. if he decides not to its HIS choice and he has earned that choice. maybe we'll see how shallow some leaf fans are if he decides not to waive the NTC.
