Bozak ignores trade speculation

Tyler Bozak said on Wednesday that he likes the Maple Leafs’ acquisition of David Steckel, as he won’t have to go into the circle against the NHL’s top faceoff man anymore.
But will Bozak one day this season line up against Steckel again? The Leafs would like to try to keep improving their forward lines, and Steckel could be the beginning. The thinking is the Leafs still want to a land a fairly big fish, and the names of Bozak and defenceman Carl Gunnarsson continue to pop up in trade speculation.

“I’m not thinking of it, not at all,” Bozak said. “We have a home opener (on Thursday night) and that’s the only thing on my mind right now.

“(Steckel) will help us a ton. We saw what Burkie (general manager Brian Burke) can do and he has been doing a great job.”

He was good. He also just exudes calm and thats huge for the team I think. I agree. He's going to ok.

I think you could be on to something with Kaberle not running stuff making us faster.

It could also be that we just have a more rangy defense now. Gunnarsson is a lot more willing to skate than Aulie was but can cover himself and Phaneuf (which allows Phaneuf to keep running stuff), and then toss in Gardiner and Lile and we have a PMDish type dman on each defense pairing which allows us to let the forwards use their speed and open the game up.

Connolly. Just kidding, that would be crazy, but I wouldn't hate it.

But no, I think the problem is that the Flyers would wanna dump the Hartnell contract and pick up a guy like Bozak or something, where they could get a guy to play those 11 minutes and not have a big cap hit. So a trade wouldn't make sense unless we could find a way to move Mike Komisarek.
Also word, about Komi – Thought he played decent yesterday some pretty good hits. He definitely has hands made of cement, as evidenced by his cross blueline pass to Gardner that left the offensive zone, and the pass to Gardiner behind the net in their own end that went into Jake's feet. Just a terrible passer. But I liked his brute force, and how aggressive he was around our net, protecting the Reiminister.

Hey Frank, I'm not sure what you mean by "STO" to be honest…

And Komisarek, ya I thought he was overall pretty good, pretty aggressive, but just has a terrible skill set. Right when I was starting to bash him he threw a huge hit though, so I think he serves his purpose. I still wanna get rid of him, but overall didn't think he played a terrible game.

Ya I agree with everything you're saying. Frattin, Kadri, MacArthur, any of these guys would probably be successful on a line with Kuley and Grabo. But I still think Mac has that extra seasoning so it will be nice to get him back in the line up.

    Good observations Josh.

Ya its weird. I like Gunnarsson over Aulie on the Phaneuf pairing because he has a little more skill, he's a big quicker, and maybe a bit smarter. Aulie on the other hand is tougher in the corners and has that physical edge, so they both have their strengths.

But ya, with Gunner on one pair, Liles on the next, and Gardiner on the next (each paired with beasts Phaneuf, Schenn and Komi) its a pretty good dynamic for our D, lots of speed back there.

@mojo19 RT @blaze: "Ahhhh finally a regular season game, I feel like a crackhead finally getting my fix. GLG!!"

I'd trade Connolly in a heartbeat for Hartnell.  Hartnell isn't a just a banaid.

Komi wasn`t an issue last night, he looked really uncomfortable with the puck that was the worst of it, if he can remain inivisible good for him.

Token Riemer pun… I guess O is a Riem number (ok, I promise not to do that again).

Should'a been SRO standing room only….sorry. I think that's what you wrote you got for the game. We were talking about the old MLG days here when ushers used to let young people at games move from the greens down to the reds and golds as the game progressed when it appeared the original seat holders weren't going to use their seats. Wish they did that at the ACC…it would look so much better and be better for the "real" fans. I was happy with Komisarek…he looked good on TV and was curious on your take live…as you wrote. He lumbers around yes…but I think he's a positive influence.

Having watched the Vancouver game after….Reimer easily out played Luongo. All you had to do was get close on him, (Luongo), and he was down on his belly. Luongo is hard to watch. Reimer just seems to get the job done and you don't really think about it….he just does it….and you almost don't notice.

My good buddy compared Reimer to the likes of Osgood. He does not always look pretty but the man gets the job done.

Ya we were standing. And good observations about Komisarek, although he was running around a bit too much in the Ottawa game in my opinion. Still hoping he can have a decent season.
