Brett Hull coming home??

www.stltoday.com reports rumors of the “golden” one returning to his rightfull home. An interveiw with Hulls agent and brother Bobby Hull Jr. have left the great fans in St. Louis on the edge of their seats expecting a return. The recent no contract offer to Demitra is freeing up some of that money to sign Hull.

Also in other news blues have signed D Eric Weinrich to a two year deal, F Dallas Drake, D Alexander Khavanov, F Eric Boguniecki and F Ryan Johnson.

Bringing Hull back to St. Louis would be a great move for Larry Pleau. Hull was the St. Louis blues for many years and will bring more excitement to the best city to never win a cup. Maybe with the return of Jackman, Backman, Pronger, maybe even Macinnis… and Patrick Lalime in net the blues have a building block to reshape the team.

Hull will do good in St.Louis i think. better then wat he did in detroit anyway

  2. Lint07 says:

Most plausible destination for Hull me thinks.

I haven’t heard anything new about his possible ”career-threatening injury” he had these past weeks playing a softball/baseball game… anybody has an update on this?

  3. CommonSense says:

Brett was on 550am in St. Louis and said that it was not a serious injury, and that he expects to be 100% for later this summer. But…….

….if you were a free agent and had a career threatening injury, what would YOU say???????

P.S. Do not count out Dallas….Brett lives there and it would likely be almost as big of a PR coup for the Stars to sign him as the Blues.

  4. Enigma says:

Brett Hull is one of my favourite players in the league, personally I would just like him to stay in the nhl. He’s never afraid to speak his mind and his one timer goals are classic.

  5. big_booty says:

No offense intended to the Hull backers, but the guy is pretty well spent.

I mean, he can still put it in the net – not with the aplomb he once did, mind you – but given the choice RIGHT NOW, I would rather have a younger and just as productive player in Demitra for about the same money.

    PR doesn’t win Cups.

Nice to see Weinrich re-up at a 50% discount, though.

  6. Lint07 says:

yeah, Dallas would be my #2 guess but I don’t know, I always thought he looked better in a Blues uniform… And with the number of players they lost, the Blues will be much more aggressive than Dallas (who are still trying to get rid of Guerin & Turgeon salaries) on the free agent hunt.

And yeah, the injury thing is very mysterious… At the time, the reports were saying teams would likely wait til the end of the summer to take a chance on him, if healthy.

Oh well, hopefully he’s doing good.

  7. cgolding says:

    just babbling… but.

the flyers should make a run for hull… not because he scores goals or anything of remote hockey value, but for my own, and your, personal enjoyment.

for a moment imagine the scene in the locker room after every game if you put hull and roenick in there with the media… BS would be rolling a foot thick… add to that the humor of hitch being forced to deal with the two of them on the same team, his battles with both being well do*****ented.

i’m still bitter they didn’t get in on the hull bidding when he left dallas… obviously in the current financial world it isn’t realistic for the flyers to think about.

    nevermind the bullox,

    chris

  8. leafs2003champs says:

dont get mad blues fans but I was listening to the fan590 and they said he is likely to return to dallas as a UFA

  9. LeafyMcLeaf says:

Yah I heard that to and it was his dad who said it. He said quote “Well he’ll end up in Dallas either with us or with the stars. But his heart is in the NHL.”

  10. pucknutty says:

booby hull was at a golf tourney in tornoto july 6 and he told a reporter that brett was heading to Dallas… he lives there and if there is no season next year then brett will play for his dads whl league team in dallas.. sorry st. louis

  11. StuWild says:

I don’t see him ending up in St. Lou? I think Hullie joining Wayne and signing with the Coyotes is more likely. Return to Dallas a possibility as well.

  12. NYR-Rangers says:

i thought Hull was playin the WHA

  13. Keith_Tkachuk07 says:

We’ll just see where Hull will end up.. Like who really thought Conroy would end up as a King?.. Oh well, if Hull doesn’t return to the Lou.. then hopefully the Blues can sign a decent winger.. I hope Sillinger gets resigned too.. Pretty reliable and makes half of what Conroy makes..

  14. Scoot says:

Yeah I heard the same thing…

  15. Mailman says:

from what my memory is telling me, hull left the blues on negative terms. why would he go back?

i think hes going to dallas, WHA, or maybe even boston

  16. Mailman says:

i like this idea. Hull and Roenick would be running the league! DO IT CLARKEY! DO IT!

  17. Mailman says:

if hulls going to keep playing, he wants to play on a cup contender or AT LEAST a playoff contender. he wont go to the worst team in the leauge (behind washington)

  18. 19Yzerman says:

The only thing better then his winning a CUP with the Wings was the way he scored the CUP WINNING GOAL against Hasek with his foot in the crease for Dallas.Dare to dream are you a RED SOX fan also???

  19. 19Yzerman says:

That was the problem there. Now that the cat is away the mice can play.

  20. habsoverserver says:

I thought his rightful home was Calgary.

Hull is one of the most durable goal scorers of all time. But I am puzzled as to why he passed much more than shot last season. He took only 200 shots last season. That is his lowest total for a full season in his career. When he played for the Blues he used to take 400 shots per season.

HUll turns 40 in August. It is tough to expect a guy over the age of 40 to do more than be a powerplay specialist. Only two of the top 25 scorers of all time scored 25 or more goals in a season after age 40. Here is list of what every 500 goal scorer put up when they were 40 yrs old:

    Gordie Howe 44 goals

    Bucyk 36

    Messier 24

    Andreychuk 20

    Lafleur 12

    Mullen 7

    Bobby Hull 4

    Ron Francis 3

    Mikita 2

    Gretzky 0

    Kurri 0

    Ciccarelli 0

    Mahovlich 0

    Trottier 0

    Bossy 0

    Esposito 0

    Goulet 0

    Richard 0

    Gartner 0

    Dionne 0

    Hawerchuk 0

    Verbeek 0

    Perreualt 0

    Beliveau 0

    McDonald 0

  21. CommonSense says:

You know Brett hates Bobby, right?

  22. CommonSense says:

Actually Stevie, Brett and Joel Quenneville did not get along either because Joel made Brett play defense….

  23. 19Yzerman says:

Tell me this. Will the fans of the St. Louis Blues embrace the return of HULL?You see I was under the impression that Keenan had driven a lot of players out of St Louis and that HULL wanted to out stay Keenan. Also once Keenan was gone that Hull had achieved his objective and then went on.

I think it has been proven in recent years that if you make the Playoffs, you can contend for the Cup and Phoenix will make the Playoffs. Boucher has finally regained his confidence and will take the #1 goaltending position and run with it. Doan, Nagy, Comrie, Langkow, Taffe up front. Morris, Ference, Tanabe and Mara on D make up a good young core. Also have brought in O’Donnell, Chimera, Devereaux. They will surprise this year!!

  25. StuWild says:

Hullie possibly joining Wayne in Phoenix?

A previous poster said, if Hull is going to keep playing he would only go to a cup contender or at least a playoff contender.
