actually hes could be traded. if a team is losing money and just wants cheaper players, they could trade a player making 6 million to the flyers for briere, who at the time is making 3 or 2 million. yes, their cap number will still be 6.5, but the team will only be spending the 3 or 2 million.

I was listening 2 him on the radio and he said it wasnt about the money because there were oter teams that offered him more than 52 million lol This definetly wont look 2 good 5 years from now when they got a 5 foot 8 37 year old center makin 6 or 7 million a year. And I really dont see him scoring more points in philly than in Buffalo either. 2 much money for 2 many years in my opinion. I really wanted him 2 say what teams offered him more than 52 million.

It's been no secret they were going after a center.

personally, i like 1) gomez, 2) drury, 3) briere

i though gomez would have been a great fit here, but at least it wan't nylander

this has so much potentional to explode
if briere's production disappears in the flyers system or
drops at the same time the flyers lose or
the rangers and gomez take the division

Clarke had some deals blow up in his face and withstand them, Holmgren could face that challenge this season

im glad we signed him, but i dont know if thats valid. it wouldnt be crazy for him to see 10 million the first year and say hell, why not, sure beats 6.5 or 7 mil from that other team. it might not completely make sense to do that, but its not ridiculous to want to get paid now.

its not the price thats out of whack. he could have signed easily for 6.5 a year or more than 7, hell there were rumors of 8 mil. but 8 seasons is a bit extreme. we arent the islanders.

Its brillant because of the front load of cash. The lower budget teams couldn't compete with that amount of cash, which would limit his options for that amount of money to a few teams. The money means nothing to the flyers, its all about staying under the cap, so 10 million is just the same as 6.5 for the purpose of a cap hit. I don't predict him going crazy and scoring a 100 pts in philly, but it sure doesn't hurt the team.

Of course i'm a flyers fan, can't you tell by my "i hate everyone else" attitude?

Just listened to the Briere phone call, apparently there were teams willing to pay him more per season. Some teams offered him over 7mil a season, but he settled for less money with philly.
