Brisebois Would Have Refused a Trade to New Jersey

According to radio station CKAC and newspaper LA PRESSE, Patrice Brisebois would have refuse to be traded to the New Jersey Devils on deadline day…The trade would have fail when Brisebois said he wanted to re-negotiate his contract. It is Brisebois first year of a 4 year/16 millions contract. The two first years of the contract has a no trade clause to it. No informations were given on who would have come to MontrĂ©al in this trade.

Wow, the Devils were that desperate to even land Brisebois?

Good for them that Brisebois vetoed the trade. The Devils “improved” what already was a superb defense with a superb goaltender. They didn’t address their major need in acquiring a forward that can score, it quite shocks me but I’ll take it!!!

Good try by Savard. Not sure why Briser said no. Why would Lou want him? Shame Montreal could not move him. But amazing that the devils got left at the altar twice. I guess Gomez was scratched cause he was being traded either for Selanne (most likely) or Briser.

  3. OldNord says:

Tverdovsky was in the deal apparently.

  4. Lint07 says:

    Make sense.

    Would’ve like to have him

  5. MantaRay says:

I find it difficult to believe that:

    A) Lou would opt to pick-up such a liability like Breeze-by. Doesn’t make sense to inherit a weak link going into the playoff stretch.

    B) That Breeze-by would rather be booed and loathed in Montreal than play for a potential Cup finalist. (Says alot about his LACK of character).

    C) New Jersey’s tough and Spartan like warriors having a player named Patrice.

    –Manta has returned

  6. OldNord says:

Apart from his contract (Brisebois), I rather have Brisebois than Oleg.

  7. Habfanforever says:

    In my opinion,

    A) Lou had no other choice but to take Shmelik over Brisebois BECAUSE,

    B) Brisebois would much rather be booed and loathed in Montreal rather than play for the most boring team to watch in hockey history AND,

    C) Be associated to self proclaimed spartan warriors whom some of their names rhyme with “cock”

  8. devfanman4 says:

Why doesn’t anyone want to play for my team? And why would Lou trade for Breeze-By in the first place? They needed a scorer not more D! I not too happy with Lou’s moves this year. They can’t beat Calgary, Boston, etc…how are they supposed to beat the Leafs, Flyers, or Sens this year?

  9. MantaRay says:

We took Shmelik over Breeze-by because Shmelik can play defense.

You can share a pepsi with Patrice and watch the playoffs together!

  10. Pock says:

Every team slumps, have faith. I still believe the devils will take the east.

  11. MantaRay says:

I find your lack of faith most disturbing devfan.

This Breeze-by rumor is false. Watch the Flyer game and learn. We getting ready, it just a matter of time before we get in sync.
