Bruins looking at Cole, Tkachuk or Antropov

The Boston Herald reports that the Bruins are very, very unlikely to give up one of their young talents at the trade deadline and have concerns that any deal that they do make should not interfere with team chemistry at all. It is also noted that it is more likely that any player that they do pick up will be a UFA at the end of the year.

Some of the names that are rumored as possibilities that could fit the bill to be good additions with giving up highly touted prospects include Eric Cole, Keith Tkachuk and Nik Antropov. HTR notes that it will be difficult to land any of these players without giving up a prospect.

What would the Bruins have to give up to get a Cole, Tkachuk or Antropov? I'm hoping they pick Antropov and do it soon because i'm getting antsy!

I wanna see a big trade happen soon.

I know they don't exactly need another forward, but I was thinking the other day that Tkachuk would make a great Red Wing. He's a veteran, never won a cup, and he could add a little something to an already great team.

Detroit loves winning it for the guys who haven't been there before and having guys in the line up without cups makes the team that much hungrier.

Who were the first people to lift the Cup in '02 after Yzerman and Bowman? Hasek, Robitaille, Freddy Oullason (sp), Steve Duschene. The guys who haven't won it before.

I think bringing in a veteran like Tkachuk would be a very Holland-esk move.

At the same time, my 2nd pick for Keith is Boston cuz I think he's from the area?

A big trade already happened Kramer.  They are just covering it up so no one knows about it.  You know how the Mafia and Aliens roll.

I can kinda agree with you there. The Wings are the class act of organizations. However I don't think they will be looking at Tkachuk as I think his price tag will be a little high for them. Eventually they are gonna want to have a their first round pick for a few consecutive years. lol

meh, if Tkatchuk found out Detroit was interested, he could be had for as little as a 2nd round pick or a mid-level prospect.  He has a NTC, and he isn't obligated to waive it.  In which case, if Detroit found out he was interested, they would only pay a reasonable price as St.Louis would be forced to deal with them vs. anyone else….

It's true. And since Tkachuk has been so good to St.Louis over the years (ie returning from Atlanta) I wouldn't be surprised to see him moved to a legit contender for a 2nd rounder, maybe a mid level prospect.

Think about when Montreal dealt Dougie back to Toronto, it was for what? a 5th rounder? 6th rounder? That was a personal favour from the Habs to Dougie basically. Also when the Leafs acquired Ron Francis, everyone though Carolina would want at least a 2nd rounder and something but he went for like a 4th or 5th rounder, no big deal.

I think Tkachuk is one guy Detroit might look at, but I definitely see them bringing in a guy like that, for that reason. Like last year it was Dallas Drake.

Cole for a 2nd round pick…the only one with winning playoff experience.

i know this thread isn't about the Leafs, but this is the closest thing to a Leafs artilce on the main page (somehow).  Needless to say, this is for Leafs fans:

Have any of you noticed the brilliant coaching Ron Wilson is pulling out with Grabovski right now?  He sits him down last night in Florida for his tomfoolery in the offensive zone.  Today, he is a healthy scratch after, in all likelihood, being reemed out by the coach.  Replaced by the returning Jeremy Williams, he has to sit and stew tonight.  Of course, Wilson will scatch Mayers ( I hope ) on Saturday and let Grabovski loose against the Leafs greatest rivals, and Grabovski's most hated opponents…The Montreal Canadiens.
Prediction : Grabovski comes out with a fury on Saturday and has a 3 point night.  Two goals, and an assist on an Antropov goal.

This is knowing how to get the most out of your players, and push their buttons at exactly the right times.
