Just an awful year for Raycroft. Toivenen(sp?) is an adequate replacement. Time for the B’s to wipe the slate clean. A decent draft this year will benefit the B’s. If the can draft in the top five, they can grab Staal who would be ideal additions for their D.

If they do poorly next year, they may have a shot at a guy like Tavares who might be the next cornerstone to the ailing franchise.

  2. Neely4Life says:

They want Staal for sure. But goaltending is the least of the Bruins problems.

  3. G_Money says:

Tavares will probably go into the draft a year after that, the NHL are mor strict then the OHL when it comes to their draft rules, also Jordan Staal isnt a d man.

  4. gobruins08 says:

I believe Tavares isn’t draft eligible until 2009, because of his late birthday, but I could be wrong.

  5. simplyhabby says:

My bad. Jordan is a centre. Too many staals on the mind.

You are also right about Tavares. i actuall inputted Esposito’s name and meant to deletes Tavares name. Hence why the sentence after looks plural.

    Thanks.

  6. simplyhabby says:

That is correct. A september B-day makes him 17 on draft day in 08. Oddly, I have been watching this guy closely and still can’t get it out of my head he is only 15.

*maybe next time I will not post in such haste at work.

  7. gobruins08 says:

Teams that could use Raycroft include:

Colorado (don’t see them changing a thing with the winning streak)

    Edmonton

    Vancouver

Tampa Bay (I see him moving to the west)

How about something like Raffi Torres and Marc-Antoine Pouliot for Raycroft and a 5th rounder?

  8. gobruins08 says:

It is downright scary how good he is.

  9. Habs_fan_of_the_new_NHL says:

Raycroft is not going anywhere, hes still young and the Bruins arn’t gona throw him away just like that unless they receive some heavy talent in return.

someone to replace the leadership Thornton brought……..

  10. neilios says:

I hope he dont come to Vancouver maybe if he comes cheep for a 7th rounder something like that cause he has done shit this year but let pucks fill the net.

Rumors on the blog at bostonherald.com suggests a deal that would include Murray, Samsonov and Raycroft to San Jose for possibly Marleau and Nabokov.

I don’t think it is anything to read into. Raycroft has an injured knee according to their website. I could see them packaging off Murray and Samsonov however as Murray needs a big playmaking center to be effective and Samsonov will be a UFA at the end of the season.

If we can get Marleau…do it. We need another franchise center to compliment Bergeron, and no, Zhamnov aint quite cutting it!

Rebuild! Jordan Staal would be awesome! And the Bruins can go with Thomas and Toivonen without worrying too much. I don’t worry about Raycroft finding his game, because I don’t think he will.

  12. JannettyTheRocker says:

There is a rumor floating around Edmonton that the Oilers may trade Georges Laraque and Ty Conklin to the Montreal Canadiens for Jose Theodore. I would assume that the Habs would want more than just these two guys. And I don’t see the Habs parting ways with Theodore anytime soon, despite the rumors.

One thing I could see happening and have heard rumors of would be the Oilers sending Ty Conklin and prospects and/or draft picks to the Bruins for Andrew Raycroft. I think this would be a more viable trade, depending on what is thrown in with Ty Conklin.

As long as we keep Jussi Markkanen, I’m happy.

  13. redbeard says:

The rumor of the Oilers and Habs includes Robbie Schremp going to the Habs…that is why they would do it. But even then, they have a lot of young guns, i think their main need is defence…don’t you?

  14. JannettyTheRocker says:

I don’t think the Sharks are ready to make a dumb move like the Bruins did. I mean, trading away a top-line centre in Marleau to the Bruins for two guys who are not producing. Yes, Wesley played great with Thornton in the past, but I really don’t see this trade happening. The Sharks are making a push for a playoff position, and would be far better off keeping both Thornton and Marleau to play with their young guns.

  15. neilios says:

I hope he dont come to Vancouver maybe if he comes cheep for a 7th rounder something like that cause he has done shit this year but let pucks fill the net.Maybe if its a blockbuster trade I wouldnt mind seeing a trade like this go down.

    To Canucks-Murray,Boyton,Gill,and Raycroft

To Bruins-Jovo,McCarthy,Park,Ouellett,and a 2nd round pick since the Canucks have 3 of them this year

I think it would be a good trade for both teams the Bruins can start builing there team around Jovo and Bergeron and Jovo can be there new captain, and the Canucks would get some scoring help in Murray and move Carter to the 3rd line help out with some scoring there and Boyton aint a bad Dman and Raycroft can back up Auld. Now the new lines would look like this if they ever made this trade.

    Nassy Morrison Bertuzzi

    Sedin Sedin Murray

    Cooke Kesler Carter

    King Linden Ruttu

    Salo Ohlund

    Allen Boyton

    Gill Baumgartner

    Auld Raycroft

i would hope the Canucks would do a trade like this they can afford to trade Jovo away cause they have Bourdon coming in next year and if they can get a couple good D in return like a Boyton and Gill it would be ok a couple gritty Dmen.

  16. JannettyTheRocker says:

I think the Oilers would be stupid to give up Robbie Schremp. I don’t like this trade at all………..Maybe instead of Schremp, trade either Matt Greene, Danny Svyret, or Pouliot. The Oilers have a bunch of strong defensive prospects. Or, maybe if we can sucker the Habs into it, we could send Cory Cross over in the deal……….he sucks. I could see the Habs wanting Steve Staios or Jason Smith. As much as I would hate to lose one of these guys, it may be well worth it to get Theodore in return.

  17. redbeard says:

Oh, I agree 100%. I am not saying the Sharks should do this, I am saying I hope so! I think San Jose is looking good now, but maybe could use a little more help on the blueline. I don’t see how Murray and Samsonov would help them move into a playoff spot. Just a little rumor, and I am sure that is all it will be.

  18. habs_forever says:

If the Oilers are going to try to sucker us into taking cross, then I hope the Habs sucker the Oilers into taking Dagenais or Bonk or both. That should make them even. 🙂

  19. moreau1123 says:

you cant do that in the new NHL because of the salary cap there is too much money being thrown around are you stupid?

  20. captainjoefish says:

I see no reason for boston to keep raycroft

tim thomas has looked very solid can I can see him being backup to hannu

raycroft has played horrible and he cannot save anything

if I were the bruins i would take anything for raycroft and please we will throw in zhamnov

  21. moreau1123 says:

and oh yeah by the way i can tell ur a canucks fan because ur giving all the players that u dont like and havent contributed shit to be the ones to be traded, its not going to happen

  22. redbeard says:

    AMEN TO THAT!

  23. oldtimehockey says:

I think the canadiens got what they needed. A coaching change and someone to motivate them… even if it is by fear alone.

  24. Rysto says:

I don’t know about this. How many odd roster moves have we seen this year that have fueled trade speculation but not led to anything?

  25. paul_dc10 says:

omg even with murray on the team why would he take carters spot with the sedins, looking at this year it seems like those guys have been play with eachother there whole life

  26. mcpickl says:

if the bruins did this horrendous deal, OConnell would be fired while he was announcing it

  27. oildude says:

I think that would be a foolish trade. Theodore is A to expensive and B too inconsistent . I think they should target Fleury in Pitsburgh or one of the buffalo goalies. We would probably have to give up too much to get Luongo but it would sure be nice to be watching playoffs late in the spring for a change.

  28. rojoke says:

Funny you should mention Thornton in the same breath as not throwing away a young talent. Given the reaction to that trade, you should have said “another young talent.”

I would be surprised if they dealt Raycroft. There’s been a lot of speculation that there’s going to be a major shake-up at the Gahden, with both GM Mike O’Connell and coach Mike Sullivan being relieved of their duties. If that’s about to happen, I can’t see any other GM making a deal with O’Connell, or Harry Sinden approving any deal that he may be trying to make.

  29. BigE515 says:

Thomas had 14 shutouts last year over in Europe, not too shabby. With Thomas and Toivenen here I think Raycroft has played his way out of Boston. One rumor I heard was Raycroft and Samsonov for Nabakov.

  30. GaryPuck says:

Absolutely no way the Sharks are trading Marleau to the B’s. That would be insane! Nabokov has struggled, but has been flirting with injuries.

As for Boston, I don’t think they will do anything major. Raycroft is a young, talented goaltender. He needs a decent team to reach his potential.

My 2 cents is that Boston will make some small trades to try and rebuild, but nothing as earth shaking as the Thornton trade.

  31. 19AVSFANFoLIFE19 says:

every time a star player is benched or isnt playing is there going to be a post about it?

  32. 24_cups_and_counting says:

All I have to say is does anybody remember when Aebisher was benched, and then Montreal benched Theodore? Enough said right there.

  33. 24_cups_and_counting says:

Neilios, why does everyone of your supposed trades involve McCarty and Park? Newsflash, Park and McCarthy aren’t that good.

  34. JannettyTheRocker says:

Well, I’m hoping the Sharks trade Patrick Marleau to the Edmonton Oilers for Cory Cross, Ty Conklin, and a bag of pucks……………..Boy do I wish this would happen.

  35. redbeard says:

i just don’t understand that either. so then there are 3 goalies again. thomas has played well and if they try to send him or toivonen down, someone will grab either. so basically you are looking at dealing thomas, raycroft and samsonov for nabokov which is a dumb deal…oh yeah, we have o’connell…guess it is possible!

  36. neilios says:

I put those guys in the trades cause those are the names been mentioned in trades and its about 1.8 mill in salary and they are just depth players that can help a shitty team out like the Blues,Bruins,or a Buffalo. All the Canucks need right now is someone that can back up Auld and play a game or 2 here and there and I think the Canucks should pick up Toskela he would be a decent back up and maybe get Hannen in the deal.

    To Canucks Hannen and Toskela

    To Sharks-Jovo

I think this would be a awsome trade for both teams cause the Sharks have to many Dman like Hannen and they could use a Jovo type Dman someone that can go end to end with the puck and the Canucks get a BC boy in Hannen who is solid and a pretty decent goalie in Toskela who might turn out to be like a Kipper.

  37. kingryge says:

YOUR DUMB…. raycroft is currently hurt

  38. mcpickl says:

those names are only being discussed in trades in vancouver, because they stink
