Buffalo, Washington and Anaheim talk

Many players could be shuffling out of Buffalo, including defensemen Christian Ehrhoff and Tyler Myers and forwards Chris Stewart and Drew Stafford.

Capitals GM George McPhee is in the last year of his contract, so this season’s outcome could decide his future in Washington. Jaroslav Halak did his part by winning his first game since arriving from Buffalo in a trade.

McPhee got a head start on next season by finally coaxing top prospect Evgeny Kuznetsov from the KHL. He won’t help the team’s porous defense, but ought to add firepower while following Alex Ovechkin’s lead.

The Blue Jackets are positioned to spend money this summer after turning the page on Marian Gaborik. Pending unrestricted free agent Matt Moulson could be just the goal-scorer Columbus needs.

The Ducks are another team to watch. They dumped Dustin Penner before the trade deadline and Teemu Selanne will retire. With young forwards to spend, Anaheim could get into the trade mart in a big way.

I could see Moulson joining Clb. he played in Long Island with no issues. They are an improving team that could start to attract a few decent names, based on pay and living out of the lime light.

Starting to get glimpses of how crazy good Gardiner/Rielly can be five on five. They’re making LA look like a bush league defense tonight. Really hope Nonis doesn’t cave and trade Gardiner this off season.

Wow. 2 of 3 wins on the California road trip. That is pretty impressive.

Bernier better not be hurt too badly though.
