Even though you seem to make a good point, this comment just loses all credibility when you call Lidstrom "the most overrated player (ever)"

Fine, but Reimer is the reason the heat was taken off Wilson. I mean, think of late January, the Leafs coming off a bad losing streak (after having a hot winning streak with Reimer then sending him down, and the losses started up again). Then there was the Phil Kessel comment about "something's gotta change here" and that he and Wilson don't really talk much, etc. There was a ton of pressure on Wilson and the solid goaltending has given the team a chance to win every night. And the winning kind of makes us forget that Wilson has said some dumb things, that he was losing the room, that the PP and PK are still among the league's worst, etc. This guy is no gem, don't kid yourself.

Well im completely glad these decisions on who we sign aren't based on presidents ideas and we pay Burke to do the work lol. This guy always thinks he knows everything and whats best for the leafs. Quite amusing to read.

Its so true, a 1st line center on this team would make them very dangerous. I would love Richards (Although I would prefer Statsny), and I do think Burke has a legitimate shot at him. That would be huge to have him centering Kessel and Lupul. If Phaneuf keeps up his play next year, and they get steady goaltending from Reimer, I think the Leafs should make the playoffs with room to spare, and perhaps with an eye on home ice advantage.

The thing is though, Reimer hasn't been so unbelievably amazing that you can pin it all on him. Yea, he makes a lot of saves, but so many of them are just the average kind of saves that Giguere and Gustavsson SHOULD have been making. This isn't a Lundqvist, Price, Miller situation where the team is getting absolutely raped nightly, and Reimer is just somehow making 47 saves on 48 shots. Wilson is getting good goal tending, finally, and suddenly he's winning. Considering the list of goalies Burke has had under his command the last decade (Giguere, Bryzgalov, Hiller, Reimer), I'd say it's safe to assume that we can expect continued impressive goaltending as the years go on. Putting it all on Reimer makes it seem like the team is a fluke. Reimer has united the team by being above average, that is all.

Wilson's job doesn't rest on good or bad goaltending. A coach loses his job when he loses the room and I haven't seen that in the Wilson era. Wilson's crime is some fans and the media for the most part don't like him personally. That fact seems to always get lost.

As for Hab's fan up there....I had a "I hate the Habs" moment, (more than usual), and took it out on you. So shoot me....or better yet organize a demonstration.

frank, you make me laugh. You should have quoted the word "fans" not the word "leaf". lol

Anyway's frank, even you, who has supported Wilson all along has to agree that if not for Reimer providing the Leafs solid goaltending Wilson's job would be in question. If we were sitting at 5-6 less wins right now and were in contention for a 3-5th overall pick for the draft, Burke would seriously be considering firing Wilson.

Reimer saved Wilson's job, I don't think there is any other way to look at it.

That's a pretty good point. I'm still not fully convinced that this isn't just the yearly late season flurish but I guess we'll all find out for sure next year.
