Kipper has been one of the best goalies since the lockout. I honestly think he's better than Miller (barring the one major year Miller had). Kipper is simply one of the best at keeping teams in games when they really shouldn't be there.

Kipper would be a great way to get some assets by trading him. It might hurt short term but it might be best in the long run. But at the same time keeping him couldn't hurt if they improve the team to actually compete

Think of how mediocre (to be nice) Calgary has been this year, and Kipper's got 20 wins, couple shutouts, he continues to be amazing year in year out. The only reason, I believe he lets in the odd flakey goal is because its too much of a grind to play behind that bullshit day in, day out and he just gets burnt out mentally.

Now that the rebuild is most likely not happening, I think it would be a huge mistake to trade Kipper. Kari Ramo looked okay in Tampa a couple years ago as a call up, that's about all I know of him, I wouldn't feel too confident handing over the reigns at all.

That is good news. I guess Kipper being quite a bit older than Ramo is a good sign for him and signals him having a better shot at a start. He's been very good in the KHL so its a sweet add to the depth we have.

To clarify I wasn't suggesting going into camp with just those prospects in net rather that they would be in the mix. They would still probably have a veteran there via free agency.

I would be after the season or at next years trade deadline, but a lot depends on what happens this summer. It doesn't appear that Flames management is going full rebuild via the draft anytime soon. I think it diffenitely has to be considered if the return is strong.

yeah obviously Calgary will wait until the off-season to move Kipper, and will only move him this off-season if Ramo can come back from the KHL, if he must first complete his 2 year deal then Calgary should wait and trade Kipper before the start of the 2013-2014 season.

I'm assuming he plans on moving Kipper in the off-season when his NMC has a window. Any team desperate for a goalie would show some interest. Although I wouldn't feel so conifdent going into camp with that group IMO.

Are you for shipping out Kipper? It kind of seems to me like the team would be quite a bit further out of a playoff spot without Mika stealing a game once in a while.

It never hurts to have goaltending depth in the system. Sounds like he will come over to North America which is great news for the flames. With Irving, Karlsson, Ortio and now Ramo there should be plenty of competition to try and replace Kipper.
