Canada Camp Opens, 2 Players Added.

Team Canada’s orientation camp opens today in Calgary. There are two players, who will attend but will not be able to partake in on-ice activities so 2 new players have been issued late invites.

Both Joe Sakic (groin) and Adam Foote (shoulder surgery) of the Avalanche, will be in Cowtown but neither will be skating. To take their places, Brendan Shanahan (Detroit) and Jay McKee (Buffalo) have been called in. This move was done so that the coaches would have enough players to have decent scrimmages.

“It’s always been our intent to look beyond our initial list at other players, and these were two guys we were still considering,” explained Gretzky.

This should please many fans who felt strongly that Shanahan should have been invited in the first place.

Canada’s camp runs through September 7th.
