As for Halak being proven... meh, he is more so than Price, but certainly still had his ups and downs, specially at the end of the season.

Fan favorite? Duh! He was a huge part of a team that went to the conference finals for the first time since 93. You could have had the Queen of England in nets and she would have been a fan favourite in Montreal. As for dealing with the fans, that's also a load, he had the bright side of the fans cause of his run. "Dealing" with the fans can't really be gauged until you get your first Bronx Cheer in Montreal.

The siuation itself could have been handled better but it's not as bad as you're trying to make it out.... yet.

The Halak-Price situation has been so mismanaged. If Price had a mind for it he could really take Gauthier to the cleaners. If I were him I would demand Halak like money. Montreal has zero leverage. Then he could either vastly over pay him or pay him for a reduced value. That is why you sign Price before you trade Halak. Or better yet, sign Halak, and either give Price another chance to prove himself at a reduced rate. Or trade Price and go with the proven, fan favorite who knows how to deal with the Montreal fans.
